Yes, thank you. But I've done that too.

Still stuck on v 2.0.1

I'm going to give the whole process one more try then give up because I don't know what I can do differently.

Sorry to hear for yours troubles. I did upgrade to my M11 Monochrom today in a few minutes, without problems. The only thing to comes to my mind is, to cheque again, the version of firmvare. It may be, that you by mistake download upgrade for M11 Mono or M11P, or, by mistake, you still have in your card folder older version of firmware. Try formating SD card in camera and also with cardformater on computer and repeat process.

Updating via Fotos seems to be the lowest drag solution. It has worked without any complications for my M11 during the last 3-4 updates. Have you tried that yet?

No need to stress. Something must have gone wrong in the firmware process. You must make sure that you perform the appropriate firmware update for your camera (there are 3 dedicated firmware updates for the M11 M11M and M11P cameras). Equally important, Leica recommends using UHS-II tape cards.

Yes, thanks Jeri and others...I've done all that, nothing works but I'm convinced I'm doing something wrong.

Even Fotos won't connect with the camera at present, so out of frustration I'm leaving it till tomorrow and I'll have another 17 goes before giving up.

Oddly, the previous upgrade went through without a hitch.

Mind you, this morning I did replace a light in the bathroom ceiling far more easily than expected, so I'm coming out roughly even at the moment.

Fotos is probably your best bet. You might try to turn it off in the camera, then quit the app on your phone or tablet. Restart the phone and then the camera, enable Fotos connectivity on your camera in performance mode, then open the app on your phone and try again.

No luck for me, Fotos managed to connect to the camera two or three times after multiple attempts over 2 hours; and then the update firmware was nowhere to be found when it did finally connect. I think it only shows as an option when you first go in to the app.

I'll manually update with the sd card, it's just really frustrating their Fotos app is so dire.

Yet again a firmware update makes me feel like a fool.

Or perhaps simply confirms the fact.

Anyway, having followed Leica's instructions to the letter, the camera (M11) correctly shows the current firmware as 2.0.1 but gives no option to update the firmware (Firmware Update is greyed out.)

I've checked everything I can, having inserted the memory card with nothing on it but the update.

Any advice anyone please?

Thank you.

It looks like the camera rolled back to the previous firmware version after the failed attempt updating to the recent firmware version. Since you tried the process several times, have you trie to delete the firmware you downloaded, download the firmware again from the page and try the update process again?

Curious - why would Leica ship a firmware update knowing there are still random data corruption issues?
Whould this not be considered a show-stopper issue, i.e. the M11 should have never been released with this defect?

This is not hypothetical, since May 2022 I have lost 7 images to this bug (= it's not a new v2 firmware problem).

From the release notes:

Quote

Important information regarding the import of DNG files • In rare cases, the import of DNGs from the SD card to image processing programs like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom would result in damage to the data structure, rendering the DNGs unreadable. This error will be remedied shortly.

Hallelujah, I upgraded the 2.0.1 with  .2 and since NO FREEZE 🤩. Let's quickly forget the 2.0.1 that did not last so long time but produced, almost for me, so much trouble.

Finally, thank you LEICA😘

like that when 2.0.1 came out, and once again I am saying, don't be grateful too fast.

You may want to hold your gratitude until the next freeze occurs.

I am almost certain freeze will happen on 2.0.2, like it did on 2.0.1, on 1.6.1....

the "update available" option in foto is always there, when I click in, it shows 2.0.2 release note.

I didn't even turn on the camera in order to see the 2.0.2 update in foto.

But I am not going to update anyway. I am happy with 1.6.1

Still zero freeze for me on 1.6.1, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2. Not saying this to boast, but to put the subject into perspective 😎

just because yours didn't doesn't mean others' don't freeze.

Don't be negative, today is an other day. Personnally I had no freeze until 2.0.1. which now is over, so let's see.

I copied about 20 pictures from the SD card to Lightroom today and when I put the SD back in the M11, 2 of them were unreadable.

Wow, this is discouraging to hear. Based on Leica’s description in the release notes, I will save the DNGs also to internal storage until the issue is declared solved. They only mention SD cards as problematic, I hope this is a viable workaround in the interim.

As another data point, I only use the internal memory on my M11 and I have never seen a corrupted or unreadable DNG over the last 11 months.

To be clear I have not seen this before. The images were OK in Lightroom so I don't know if this was Lightroom or the camera. And the release note says this:
