@Ex Orient Lux You seem to have a fixation about your perceived colour tint issues, and I'm not sure it's good for your mental wellbeing. It's a widely debated subject that has been discussed in exquisite detail and, to be honest, we've heard it all before.

Perhaps you could post about something else Leica related that is less triggering for you? As a new member of the forum you'll find that there are lots of interesting things to discuss.

For example, what are your favourite things about the M11 series (btw which model do you have?).

Merry Christmas!

Please read more carefully: I said it is the interaction of sensor, Bayer filter and firmware.

The sensor does not interact colourwise. It produces a monochrome analog signal. The IR filter does through its coatings.

What does the autofocus has to do with the magenta shift?

And please don't forget to share your opinion on the magenta shift of tha image shown in the video.

Precisely. But it has a different pixel configuration. The same sensor like you claim? You just confirmed the invalidity of your argument.

Which is Internet click bait.

Please keep in mind, it is not just my claim, Leica itself says it is the same sensor. But I really don't want to quibble here. So let's cut to the chase: I'm more interested in your opinion: does the photo shown in the video (clickbait or not) have a magenta cast?

I just wish that people like that alleged photographer get their colour management workflow in order and stop whining...

Ok. I take that as a yes: You do see  a magenta cast in that said picture.

And btw: I don't find it overly nice how you speak (" alleged photographer" , "whining") about a fellow photographer whom you obviously know nothing about. His work looks absolutely legit. Have a look yourself:

The guy knows what he is doing.

Maybe, but I do not know to what extent they have been enhanced to "show the problem"... As Pedaes says, he wants to sell. His site is a front for this: https://verygoodpresets.com/

How can this video have any credibility when all it is in reality is a pitch to sell the guys magic 'presets'?

In fairness, at least he explains how one can easily create his/her own preset, and also briefly mentions the possibility of creating a different default import setting. Better than many internet sales folks.

Is it still the case with latest FW?

I haven't tested it with the latest firmware yet. And it's not that easy to do, since we have cloudy weather all the time now, and I had problems more often in sunny weather.

Regarding the whining: Is the parasitic cast an unsolvable problem? No, it is not, it can be fixed in post-processing. Although it is annoying. Nevertheless, this indicates a drop in quality control in cameras from such a well-known manufacturer as Leica (loss of qualified personnel?).

However, if it weren't for the constant firmware problems for 2.5 years and the faulty white balance, I would never have bought the X2D - so there are positives in everything 😂

In fairness,

I am sure he is genuine and needs to earn a living, but his website is very orientated to his shop selling a range of Presets. Just not a good video to use as evidence of a problem in my book.

One could say the same about various videos from Leica.  Marketing.
