Hi 👋

in my case summicron M 50 APO (3x) and Summilux M 50 ASPH (3x)

Most worrying  m11 based bodies (4x), one classic in each color, one monochrome and recently a black -P

i sold all them as M11 freezes and crashes were painful even after each firmware updqte..so using sl2-s for M lenses for the time being..

best season wishes 🤙🎉

In the early 1960s I had a 5cm Xenon but this eventually went in a part-exchange deal. I bought a Summarit in 2003, which is a Xenon derivative, but its role was taken over some years later by a Summilux version 2.

In the late 1960s I used an f/2.8 Elmar on my IIIg, but both went in another part-exchange. In a moment of nostalgia I bought another f/2.8 Elmar in 2015, but haven't used it much.

I bought two times a SLX M 35mm Asph FLE Vers. I

And I sold them both after a while, just to re-invest the money.

But since 35mm is my favourite focal length, I now have a Summarit M 35mm f2.4 in my bag, a very nice little lens

That was the problem - I did not realize at the time I need a sterile ASPH 35mm *AND* a mild character 35mm (like the LLL 35 or the Summicron 8 element V1) *AND* a turbo character 35mm like the Old Delft Minor.  All three to have in my collection.

Thanks again. Educational as always. So, no love for any 35mm Summilux?

I like this thread!! 10 years of using Leica and I have to say that I bought and sold much more than I should have…but some of the highlights are:

- Summicron 35mm v1 (sold it and bought it 3x - don’t have it now and miss it. Every time I sold it was because I felt it was too pricey for what it is but after a few months I regret that)

- Summilux 35mm pre-asph (sold it and bought it 3x - don’t have it now and miss it sometimes, not as much as the v1 though. Mostly because of the limiting 1m MFD)

- Summicron 35mm v4 (sold it and bought it 3x - have it with me now and decided it’s the best 35mm to keep as it tackles the issues I had with the v1 and pre-asph lux, ie not too expensive, and 0.7M MFD, while having a lovely rendering that while not as great as the v1/pre-asph lux, it has its own nice unique look which is very painterly)

Now, the opposite of that…Lenses I tried once, sold and never thought of buying again:

- Summicron 35mm asph (rendering is too sterile for me)

- Summilux 50mm asph (too big/heavy for me to always carry it around)

- Noctilux 50mm f1 and f1.2 remake (too big/heavy to use frequently, and too expensive for what it is)

Steel Rim 2x bought/2x sold

APO 35 2x bought/1x sold

Add the close focus to the steel rim and i might go for it again.

The first sale of the apo 35 was a silly move as I wanted to move to the X2D. Big mistake on my end, had to rebuy it and another M11-P.

For me, its a tie between the 50 Summilux ASPH and the 35 Summicron v4 German. Both are amazing lenses but for some reason i always used to grab an alternative lens to these two.  I’ve owned two 50 luxes, the most recent being a silver chrome version which was just too heavy so I ended up selling it and no longer have one. My first 35 Cron v4 German was a beautiful lens but I just didn’t gel with it at the time and ended up selling it. Recently was looking at some photos using that v4 lens (below) and decided to get another German one as a replacement as i forgot how nice it renders for its compact little size.

I've owned four copies of the 50mm Summicron. two V5, one V3, and one V4 (current and final version).

You told us a year ago (post #39)… that’s what happens when someone opens a long dead post.  But at least you didn’t buy more 50 Summicrons in the interim. 🤪

28 lux. I’ve owned at least 5 copies, maybe more. The image quality is amazing but I can’t stand the size of it. I end up using the 28 Cron every single time over it. But dang the image quality is good. I’m sure I’ll buy it again at some point.
