Would you buy a SL 50 mm Noctolux?

I think "yes necessarily" for a Leica. Their design criteria for SL lenses has made all of them several times the size of the M equivalents. The cheaper and easier design for Leica would have been stick AF motors onto the M lenses, but I am guessing that did not give the image quality they want.

Once a company has design principles, they do not deviate from them or they come up with a different product line following new principles ... so with that new thought in my mind, maybe Leica do produce a "small" and less than perfect SL Noctlux  . But ... I doubt I buy that either as I would rather stick my M lens on the SL. 

Other companies may produce a "small" noctilux for SL mount.

Image quality isn't the issue. AF lenses need to have the lightest possible moving elements, in order to improve responsiveness. Sticking big motors on M lenses would be, to coin a phrase, "slow AF".

So this is a very old Canon 50 mm 1,2 EF lens. 

Ok it's slow and it isn't as sharp as a Leica Lens. 

But for Protraits I will use it. And for this kind of silly images it's quite nice. 

And that's why I asked the question in advance. Because I am sure with new technology 

it can be done. 

Maybe one sharp very expensive and one for portraits that doesn't render that clinical.

I would buy one, IF it had the rendering of the classic 50/1.0 v4 and a reliable fast AF. I wouldn’t care for any weight in this case.

Maybe we can state the statistics on what we would like the lens to have. 
 

so let’s say: 

it’s as small as the Nikon: 

NIKON NIKKOR Z 58MM F/0.95 S NOCT

then you can think of a price you what to pay…. 
 

And just to remind all here: 

laowa is now producing af lenses and I am sure they will come up with some fast lenses.

Only if they made it a character lens, 75mm for portraits,  sacrificing corner performance and having heavy vignetting to keep it smaller than the 50mm 1.4. Even then it would have to be very special to surpass the 75mm APO

50mm+ Sharp + Fast for me the Panasonic 50m 1.4 is more than enough, and anything heavier for a prime I would never use.

So I assume you got up early today and tested it against the 75 APO? 

Can you provide some of the images pls?
