This is basic basic AI render of an image, this isnt using machine learned what they call LORAs to give specific attributes and it has the potential to make images look a certain way. No, it currently isnt perfect, but the tech has advanced fast.

I simply plugged this text based image prompt into an online AI program.

Portrait_of_a_young_man_from_top_angle_shot_by_a_Leica_M_camera_and_a_Summilux-M_50_1.4_at_f1.4_at_night_with_spotlight_left.

What the CAI tech does is make it to where we can tell if an image similar to this one that has a better author of the prompt, that actually knows what they are doing, can't simply get away with making something seem real that isn't. I would look to the various situations where a manipulated image or a full book like Book of Valles, completely made by computer during the pandemic, have won awards because the photographer has clout.

This is why CAI tech is important. If you don't care about it, don't care about it. Some of us applaud and demand it.

I upgraded my M10R, and released my Q2M for the upgrade. I have kept my M10M "Leitz Wetzlar" for now to have two generations and the M10M has a sililar dynamic range to the M11R, if not better and "sharper". But for the M10R, the updated specs (unless you have a Black Paint M10R) are significant enough. Plus the CAI tech, since I am often a photojournalist. Sold.

If the upgrades are significant enough for you then that’s all that matters. For me, significant upgrades at this point would be a closer focusing rangefinder, quicker start up time (as in pretty instant) and menu selectable frame lines for 40mm :)

3.2 seconds is kinda long for sure, but if I know that when I am in a situation where I need to be fast I am thinking I will just change a profile to keep a setting where the camera is on 30-60 minute sleep.

40mm frame lines would be nice, but since there has only been ONE camera with those and its made by Minolta (which we know was bought by Sony and started their photography line) and the CL and CLE are from the 1970s - I'm not holding my breath.  Leica doesn't even have a profile for that lens in its digital lens profiles. It's such a good lens, but I just use 35 or 50 and it's fine.

No it doesn’t and I’ve actually filed down my 40mm Nokton mount to trigger the 35mm lines as I found them pretty accurate on my old ccd bodies. I’m fond of the focal length so if Leica ever decide to have menu selectable frame lines on future bodies then 40 would be a nice to have for me. Otherwise I’m a fan of keeping the M simple, quick and high quality. Enjoy the m11p.

It is not strange that Leica does not list its Summicron-C 40 mm in its M lens list. It is not and M lens, but a C lens and Leica at the time specifically recomended not to use it on an M camera for lack of focus accuracy (which nobody ever noticed :) )

M11 8750 Euro, M11-P 8950 Euro. For only 200 Euro 256 GB storage, sapphire glass on monitor, engraved top logo, no ugly red dot, and the LCC feature...

Yes. No doubt which I’d buy today.

However, probably not worth losing the money on changing for no particular reason I can’t live without.

Question for M11-P silver owners..

Is the hot shoe cover silver metal (like on the M10-P)?

A dealer unboxing video (YT Thailand Kamera Crafts) of both the Black and Silver M11-P had the same Black hot shoe cover on both versions.

included is the black plastic one but you can just ask your local dealer for the silver metal one, I've had one for ages and actually got it for free from them (but I spend a lot there so what is "free" lol). I am rocking it too, although part of me is wondering if I maybe want to use the black metal cover instead.. or maybe no cover although I've heard that's not advisable with digital Ms

Unrelated to that, Sony just released a camera with full frame global sensor and man part of me wishes we could've gotten that in the M11-P, although probably not happening as it's I believe 24/26MP and Leica did join the more is better train. Maybe when it's M12 or 13 time they'll include one or a new revision gets even better. No more flickering or rolling shutters!

Thanks, I already have one from an M10-P that I’m using on my M10-R, was just wondering if Leica decided not to include it in the 11 as I didn’t see it in any photo or video online. It’s a pity they didn’t include it, it costs next to nothing and makes the camera so much nicer to look at.
It looks like I’ll sell the M10-R with the black plastic one and move the silver to the M11-P..

Hold the phone a second.

Why in the world didn’t Leica build GPS into the M11-P??  The Content Credential would be so much better with verification of the location the photograph was taken.

I’m just spitballing here.

GPS requires more energy. I suspect that is why they use the iPhone and FOTOS to record GPS on the image. On the M10R it is in the VIsoflex housing and when I take a 3 hour hike, I take 2 or 3 extra batteries. The GPS antenna in the Visoflex is not very sensitive or fast at acquiring satellites. It is pretty much unfunctional in the woods.

I emailed my dealer in New Zealand.

The price of the M11 is now just $50 less than the P version so the standard version is about to get a price reduction.

I have a mint standard M11 and they want NZ$7,000 to change it for a P.

If you have more than one lens, it sounds like you could keep both bodies. The image quality should be indistinguishable. It sounds like they are giving you next to nothing for it. You might try selling it privately. It has been so long since I’ve been to New Zealand I’ve lost track of the conversion rate with the U.S. dollar. I loved the Arboretum in Christ Church when I visited on my way to McMurdo.

The M11, like all digital Leicas, has no GPS because we want a metal body. If we were happy with a plastic body, we would also have a built-in GPS.

You can have a metal body and have a gps. Ala SL.

There is hardly any difference between the price of a P and a non P now - so little that there is no point in even making the non P I would suggest.

I would like another body so that I can do away with lens changes for the most part; however, a P is just shy of NZ$17,000 (US$10,500) which is no small amount to find.
