Almost all freezes have disappeared with the latest firmware. Leica is still working hard on the very few remaining problems.

This apply just to the D version? I’m on a third M11, latest firmware, still freezes.

Should be both (all) M11s - do you have any description of how to freeze it? and what firmware version you are using?

All the best

It’s FW 2.1.2. It froze on me I think four times in one day last week, not sure if there’s any pattern but at least two were when I was trying to turn the camera off.

Am always intersted in D versions but this would worry me.

Did you report in the respective tread?

Did you do the factory reset plus toss your user profiles and rebuild from scratch? That has fixed lingering freezes for most everyone.

I got the call from the Boutique yesterday afternoon that “my” M11-D is ready for pick up but I'm out of town until Sunday. Damn, how could I have made such a mistake in my travel planning. 😂

And so it happened.

The rumors were right when they mentioned black painting. The magnesium/aluminum body has a black painting but not in the way everybody here was thinking or even hoping for but in a way of black chrome mimicry. Without judging the M11-D to early – no photos taken yet – I wonder what kind of aging process this metal and paint combo will show in the future. Of course brassed black paint Ms are always very appealing but I also like this specific gray-ish aging of the original black chrome.

Anyway, let's see what this M11-D does to a faux lever lover and heavy brass bro’ like me. 😎

wow, potz-blitz, they both look entirely new !  i would say niegel-nagel-neu !  how come ?  how do you do that ?

in contrast, my m10d looked 'well done' after 5y of daily knipsen...

Haha! Ok, perhaps it’s these three things:

  • iPhone shots in low light aren't good for details, so the M10-D looks "cleaner" than it really is
  • The luxury of choosing between at least three M10s (-R, -M, -D) leads to lower usage of each camera even with "daily knipsen"
    • Admittingly I use the M10-D less since I own the M10-R
  • Not the best expression to use these days but I call it "Waffe putzen" (cleaning the weapon), I regularly clean my Ms with a microfiber cloth.
    • I especially can’t stand the dust between the body, the time wheel and the shutter release.

Never shared this kind of private insights on my relationship with my M camera on this forum. 😂

That M10's faux winding lever looks so good, so much a natural part of the camera..................Damn, why did they not continue with it? It's a great signature of the D series M's, so stupid not to have continued with it. Ah well, hello Thumbie!
