Leica sales prices bear very little correlation to the cost of the raw materials. However, it will sell in far fewer numbers than the M11-P so development and tooling/manufacturing costs will be greater per unit.

Also, it's a truly unique product and for its target market the M11-D will be too attractive for them to worry about the price.

This makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.

This is the first "D" version that I have interest in.  For prior versions was it limited (even if not officially a limited edition)  in that Leica only makes so many and no more so buyers could be left wanting? Or does Leica make enough so there is a surplus in the end and every initial buyer is able to get one?

Lovely camera, if it has no screen does that mean it no longer freezes?

I think that the problem has almost disappeared. Go into the respective thread in this forum. There is very little activity there which is the best indication that most users are fine now.

. . . and there will be more FW updates that will perform even better. I do not know which FW version is in the final M11-D.

Who has bought the new M11-D already? Which FW is in your camera?

Just wondering how you would install a firmware update on an M11-D. Inserting the memory card with the update and then pushing the function button in a predefined pattern?  . . . - - - . . .   🤔🤔

I don't know about the M11-D but that's exactly how it is done with the M-D Typ-262 so I'd guess it would be (roughly) the same. From the M-D's instruction manual;

"Download the latest firmware version ▸ Save the download to the memory card ▸ Insert the memory card into the camera ▸ Press and hold the FN button and switch on the camera • The update will start automatically."

Does anyone know if with the M11-D, ( and I guess the M11-P ), if you can set the internal storage to record DNG / colour files and on the SD card record jpeg files in B&W?

You can certainly do that on the M11-P so the M11-D should be able to do it as well.

So it goes at the M11-D too. Or via Leica App.

This is possible via the Leica App. DNG is always color; for JPG You can choose b/w.

while the m11d is now sold in stores across half of Europe i am wondering when it will begin to hit the shelves here at the other side of the pond, especially in Montréal ?  is there anybody who already got hold of an m11d in the States or here in Canada ?

I wasn't tempted by the M11, but I have to say that I'm drawn to the M11-D. I have an M10-R and an M10M and don't really need both. I have an SL2-S for focal lengths and circumstances that require an EVF. I miss the flow of using a film camera but don't want to go back to film. The idea of selling both Ms to get an M11-D is really appealing.

I'm going to keep a careful watch on myself for the next few weeks, to see if I really derive any value from the screens on my Ms.

don't wait too long with the m11d - who knows how long they will be available !

i was very very lucky to get hold of an m10d over 5y ago, totally by chance did i find one, i was a bit naïve at that time.

today i feel better prepared - but, while i am still first on the list at our local LeicaBoutique i don't see the camera yet surfacing on this continent...admittedly just one day into the game...savlanut savlanut...

No. Not directly. But you can define what a JPG shoukd be. If you choose B/W then you have your solution.

Yes, they are here in the States (in ‘very’ limited numbers). The quantities coming in are so low that no demo models would be available to show/demo in the store.
