Not sure if this has been covered/ discussed before, but will the m11-d feature the same Sensor Metering mechanism like the rest of the M11 Family? In other words, will the sensor will be exposed whenever the camera is on? Did they change anything to the shutter mechanism? Because this is one of the deal breaker for me upgrading to the m11 family, the sensor open-close-open-close and open again flow is just crazy!

There is no „open-close-open-close and open again“ flow on the M11. If you examine the function of a focal plane shutter with two individually operating blinds you will realize that the only difference between the traditional and the M11 flow is only minimal - just the starting point of the shutter operation has moved form blind 1 and 2 at starting position to blind 1 at start and blind 2 at end.

you don‘t believe it is that simple? Take a video (e is for exposure, 1 and 2 are the blinds of the shutter, and r stands for rewind operation) and you will see the real flow:

m10: 1 - e -2 -1r - 2r

m11: 2r - 1 - e - 2 - 1r

Absolutely correct.

So I think you can start to close your deal as your assumption is wrong.

Perhaps he was too early. However, there is not much new in it.

While there wasn't much new about the M11-D (for us), there was quite a bit I didn't know about the history of the screenless models. I found the article quite entertaining.

I already found a couple of videos with Nick Rains here, not sure why they aren't on the official Leica YT maybe they leaked early and someone copied them?

Thanks for these. I see from them that to connect to Fotos you only need to press for 5s, not 12s as stated in the leaked quickstart guide. 5s sounds more practical.

Also, the 'A' on the ISO dial is white not red. Oh well.

finally healed, only because of resolution and a little more dynamics and photos app (= M11-D) in exchange for the thumb lever, sweet spot, shutter noise, base plate, remove SD card (like changing film = M10-D).

Even John struggles to admit that "the Greek baptism can be a risk" even with the M11 as a primary camera.

The King M10-D is dead? Long live the king!

I wish everyone a lot of fun with the M11-D, and especially everyone who keeps the M10-D, like me!

btw: I just bought a new SL2-S as a backup on the German sale for 2,700...

regards chris

Does the new Lens Detection menu in the Fotos app mean that you can now manually choose an uncoded lens?

I can’t see this menu when connecting to my M10, so it’s probably not backwards compatible with the M10-D either?

Less expensive components (sapphire screen)….but a higher price?!

Leica sales prices bear very little correlation to the cost of the raw materials. However, it will sell in far fewer numbers than the M11-P so development and tooling/manufacturing costs will be greater per unit.

Also, it's a truly unique product and for its target market the M11-D will be too attractive for them to worry about the price.
