Thanks, and yes you are right, but my experience with the M10-D was frustrating rather than "bad", I hung in there for as long as I could hoping that the next visit "home" would sort the camera out and make it a definite "keeper" but in the end I accepted Leica's offer to trade and it was a decent one too. I guess they knew it was a "troubled child" plus they also told me that replacement parts were very scarce for the camera so ongoing service could well be problematical which was a real pity because as I said it was easily my favourite digital M to date to use, ( and the 24mp size sensor is for me the "sweet-spot" for a M's sensor size ). I could not find an affordable M10-D replacement so another M6, ( with the .58 viewfinder ), joined the stable instead...........Sort of M10-D like but with a fully interchangeable "sensor". My other digital M's haven't been entirely trouble free, the M10-R suffered a failed LCD and just squeaked in under the warranty period for a +6 month away trip to Wetzlar for replacement by Leica, fingers crossed the other two are still behaving but in truth I am limping away from Leica's digital M offerings and returning more so to film for what I want to image on these days...........A M11 in any shape or form is not for me.

I also limped or, are limping, away from the digital M's. I'll keep my SL2-s but an analogue M is soo much more fun, with less issues. The prices are also getting hard to accept for what you get.

Hello WvE, nice to know that I am not entirely alone on the pathway veering away some from digital, not completely away from it of course but finding that returning to analogue is more satisfying I guess, ( to me ), for a lot of what I do and yes you are right about the "prices" of entry, or keeping up with the digital dollar merry-go round in regards to Leica and their digital offerings is more and more for those with much deeper pockets than I........but good luck to them anyway and thanks too for helping to keep Leica in business!

"October is the big month for Leica" I was told by a Leica rep only yesterday.

On another forum here a poster claims this will be the new Q3 “Naughty Forty” or “Nifty Fifty” model.

I have read all 474 posts in this thread and only about a dozen people have said they would buy an M11-D, with perhaps another six prevaricating about price or freezes or lack of brass/blackpaint/thumb lever etc

Should Leica be worried by this? I hope not!

i hope not.  i assume the number of unknowns (Dunkelziffer) is too substantial for any prediction of this sort, for us ordinary mortals at least.

as said previously, i had held the new m11d in my own two hands some weeks ago, and so i know today for sure i will get one as soon as they begin to show up on the Leica Boutiques' shelves.  the only big compromise on my part will be having to say bye to the m10d's thumb rest lever...

How would the 'pipeline' or workflow be any different than the M10D?

'simpler workflow' ?  the m11d comes with less buttons, while power switch and ISO wheel are now located at their 'traditional' spots, and hence just enhance the digital shooting experience for film aficionados.

the m11d is an absolute jewel.  nop, that's not true.  it's even better, in my opinion.  it is the ultimate solution for this sort of 'D' photography, perhaps the last of its kind, considering how dramatically the camera market changes these days worldwide.

if i am not mistaken, then my m10d comes with a 3-shot bracketing option via FOTOS although i never really use that function.

now, regarding the m11d, i would imagine it will come also with such a exposure bracketing feature, perhaps for even more than just 3 shots.

ADDENDUM : in terms of VISOFLEX i don't own one so i can't comment on that.

Given Hungary was all alone for thousands of years, your wait is nothing!:)

you are right, @setuporg - and it's not unimaginable that some are there still waiting today for the next big 'D' day - but let's not get into politics here...

regarding your expertise in magyar matters i imagine that you are either into linguistics curious about this little, so foreign sounding island - and/or carry yourself a few of Attila's genes ?

I just love history and my favorite is Venice, did a little tour of Stato da Mar in August.  Trieste used to belong to the Habsburg Empire and Venice destroyed Zara on the way to destroying Constantinople when Dalmatia was Hungarian… now the idea of maritime Magyars is not obvious to most people.:)

i traveled recently through Rijeka and the Krk island, Trieste many years earlier - amazing places for M-style photography !  Yugoslavia was at that time the only eastern-european country where we refugees could travel to with a Nansen passport, in order to get a bit closer to the magyar homeland, or the Danube river for that matter.

i diverge here a bit too much from our main topic : i just wait for the moment that our loved M11-D is announced at LeicaRumors !

PS : but now look at this !!!
