Leica Q3 lens cleaning recommendation

Does anyone have any recommendation on cleaning the lens on the Leica Q. I have just ordered up some Eclipse solution and Pec Pad sheets to hopefully remove the more resilient specs of dust (the usual blower and microfibre cloth have been unable to remove). However, I am concerned about using a solvent on the lens in case there is any damage to the lens coating.

In the past, I always used the pre moistened pads for cleaning.  Haven't had to do any "deep cleaning" on my Q's as I have always put a good protective filter on them as insurance. (B&W clear MRC nano) They are pretty tough.  Hope you find something that works.

It doesn't matter which camera system I always use "B + W Lens Cleaner Kit (PhotoClear Microfibre Cloth and Lens CleanerII) ".

My workflow:

1. blow big debris with the air blower first

2. using a lens cleaning brush gently brushing off dust from the front element

3. use the air blower again

4. shaking a few times the the microfibre cloth in case some particles are on the cloth

5. spray the B+W lens cleaning liquid on the microfibre cloth

6. with circling movements I clean the the front element with the wet microfibre cloth starting from the centre of the lens and move along with circling movements clockwise or counter-clockwise towards to the rim of the lens

7. than use the dry part of the microfibre cloth and dry clean the lens

8. cleaning the microfibre cloth with a neutral with no additives and perfume dish cleaning liquid and hang it for air drying

For my lenses and camera bodies:

Blow dust away or pass gently the vacuum cleaner, using a natural hair nozzle that doesn't scratch.

Moist, soft pure cotton terrycloth.

Thanks for the comments. So the general consensus is that it shouldn’t be an issue using the Eclipse fluid with respect to the Q3 lens coating? 

It’s annoying that even though I have used a UV filter out of the box from new, I somehow managed to get a small spec of dust on the lens, which turned out to be a small smudge when I wiped it. I have to say that a washed microfibres cloth did not help by introducing more dust particles onto the lens. 😐

I always cleaned my lenses with my tee-shirt, never scratched a lens or the coating 🙂

All these cleaning accessories are just a waste of money imo.

Everyone has a method and product but I will pipe in.  Kimtech Kimwipes "Science Brand"(come on a disposable box) and ROR liquid.... especially good if any oily substance gets on them.  I learned this from a high end Leica Store and they have worked out well.  Be gentle and make sure you use a blower first.

For whatever reason the Leica Lens Q coating or coatings make it harder to clean than my Olympus, and Nikon Z glass. I have to work 2-3 times harder to clean it. I’m not putting a UV filter in from on my camera, unless I’m going to spend prolonged time at the ocean with it or in the desert. That being said I have different solutions and I use Kimtech wipes.

Modern lens coatings are pretty resilient ...... unlike the day many years ago when I stupidly tried to clean a Nikon lens with butanol and the whole lot came off ......

Zeiss Lens wipes will shift almost anything .... they are alcohol based and dry with no smearing. Great for the sort of smeary crud you get from seaspray etc.

You can try a microfiber cleaning cloth. Everything with a smooth surface can be cleaned with it.
