I never liked the all black M look.  Prefer my camera bodies and lenses to be silver.  The only black M bodies for me are the M9M and M11M.  I do have a black MP for B&W and silver one for color film.  My M3, M2s and M4 are silver.  How many of you bet that the new version M6 will eventually be available in a sliver body?

It will depend on strong sales of the current reissue of the M6. If stock is selling and demand continues, there may be consideration to introducing the camera in silver chrome. There is also the possibility Leica will announce a silver version, then we'll all wait to see if it happens.

I've always preferred silver chrome bodies as well, but did go with a black M6 in 1985 when it was in stock and chrome wasn't. Also think black looks better on the M5 due to the height of the topworks. However, went back to chrome for my M10. If I spring for a new M6 would prefer chrome if available, but I suspect black is more in demand in today's market.

Black or silver, long history but the nice thing is Leica M IS Leica M ...

When first M6 came in 1984, smart and revolutionary Leica M  that of course I wanted one of those.

The waiting list was long to buy one, in France.

My decision at that time was I waited for silver M6, and ordered as such.

Maybe nice decision, waiting time was shorter for silver M6 that I still have and use from time to time.

My first M4 was traded-in for M6, but I found one M4 later then other ones came in silver chrom/Black Paint/Black chrome.

My first M was an M6 in silver. I was never even close to be doubtful of my choice. And in the continuation I have also managed to keep 6 of my current set of 12 Leica lenses in silver.

So the disappointment was big when the first full frame Leica M, the M9, was announced not to be offered in silver chrome, but with this grey`ish lacker. It was even stated that silver chrome Ms would never again be produced! WHAT? Really? Leica M = chrome!

So being a chrome guy with at bunch of silver lensen (to me silver lenses on black bodies just do not work) only choice was to go for the grey lackered M9 since no future silver M was to be expected... 😆

Today I am very happy with my silver M10... but I did feel  somewhat cheated when the M9P turned up in silver rather soon after the M9.

I still have my first digital M, a silver M9-P which took some special photos of my young family as they were growing up so this camera has a special place in my heart.  So much so that even though it never developed sensor corrosion, Leica actually agreed to replace the sensor with the new one at my cost just before they ran out of stock.  Just good timing on my part.    They did replace the sensor on my M9-M for free so I will keep these 2 along with the latest digital (silver, of course) color and mono M's.

I have a strong preference for silver chrome lenses. All my M lenses are silver chrome. I am much less picky about M bodies. They always look good with silver chrome lenses.

Tend to agree. Silver chrome M body, fits perfectly with a silver chrome lens and has a class on its own.

It seems that the majority, likes black M bodies (especially MP black paint version).
