My local dealer has had one sat in its box on their shelf for a few months. I kept eyeing it and in the end decided to trade my Summilux 22 version in and get it.

I’ve not had much opportunity to use it but in terms of build it’s definitely a step up from the already excellent usual standard. It feels precise, like a Swiss watch, in a way that most other lenses don’t quite equal.

The focus action is much nicer than my Summilux was and that was nice enough. This is perfectly smooth and equals my Summilux 50 asph which the 35 Summilux did not. Size is just that bit smaller and neater on an M body and the small weight saving helps to make it a very portable and handy package, especially on the lighter black M11 body.

My plan is to end up with 21, 35 and 75. The 75 will probably be next, simply because I suspect I’d use it more often than 21.

I’ve shot just a few snaps around the place and the colour and contrast is excellent. When I can find the pixel size requirements to post them here, I will. The size guide used to pop up between posts in most forums but seems to be missing now.

And one of our very poorly terrier who sadly won't be with us for much longer, so I took this for my wife.

Every time I left my dog for a quick lunch, he gives me that “please?” look…  I need to wear a service-human tag and bring my dog to everywhere.

Agree! It’s a wonderful fantastic lens. Beautiful build quality.  The 35 APOs are near impossible to find here in the states, I’ve was on the waiting list since launch day and I just happened to find one a month ago on Leica’s USA site. In fact, Leica just listed another on available now on their Leicacamerausa.com site https://leicacamerausa.com/leica-apo-summicron-m-35mm-f-2-asph-black-anodized.html

Brown nose valais!  Lovely.  You’re in Canterbury?

I’m coming to grips with the 35 APO, and so far it has exceeded my expectations.  I’m settling on 21-35-50 for an even spread travel combination.

Yes on both counts.

We have only two - brothers who were raised as pets. They’re a bit like woolly dogs: you can quite literally walk up to them and pet them.

They aren’t pure Valais but about 75%. The pure ones were several thousand dollars each, which seemed a lot for grass mowers!

I believe Progear in Auckland have one in stock - which will be the only one available in NZ for now I expect.

Ok so. I’ve found one design fault.

The metal lens cap is lovely but it’s very likely to get lost if you put it on when carrying the camera and the lens hood is attached. It’s not really firm enough when pushed on in my view.

I havent been able to get this lens, still priced higher than retail from where i live, but even if it retails, still way above my pay grade, i have to settle down with the lux FLE II, but im so dying for this apo… the itch is real

"The rumours are true. The APO 35 is a wondrous creation."

It is exceptional. I have too many M lenses. If I could only keep one, this would be it. Not even a close call.

I intend to end up with a 21 Lux, this 35 and a 75 Apo.

That’s probably a folorn hope as we all know it never ends where we think it will!

Leica ownership should probably have some kind of government warning attached!

Last year I made a 5 weeks mobil home trip through the western provinces of Canada. I had with me the M 10-R and the 35 mm Summicron only. Some pictures for example...
