Hey guys, hope you're all well.

Everything is in the title: for those who are fortunate enough to own the Q3, have you figured out how to activate the Perspective Control option?

It's greyed out in my case, and I can't figure out why... And when I read the manual, I see I "may need to activate Live View" but I'm not quite sure how to do that either (a real genius...).

Please help a brother out. 😄

I am sorry not to have the Q3 in my hands anymore. But when you just shoot DNG then that does not stop you using Perspective Control.

You should be able to put that function on one of the function buttons. For this you have first to make sure that in the menu the PC function is activated for a specific function button (that is new in the Q3 that you have first to define which function you want to see in what function button). Once the function is activated (e.g. for the left button on the back of your Q3) then long press that button and choose the function.

Great in the Q3 is that the PC-function works as well in combination with the crop function (which is not the case in the M11).

Hope that this helps: Unfortunately I have to write this without a Q3 here in my hands to check. But I never experienced any problems in switching that function on and off and assigning it to a function button. As I do a lot of architecture I need that function a lot on my M11.

If you’re shooting RAW only that may be the reason. You can fix perspective issues in Lightroom with RAW images. To get perspective control setup to shoot RAW + JPEG.

Hello. I actually shoot in DNG+JPG, to no avail insofar as this specific option is concerned... 😞

Hello. I'm afraid regardless of whether i shoot DNG only, or DNG+JPG (or any underlying variant thereof), the Perspective Control remains greyed out in my menu, and assigning it to a FN button doesn't do anything when pressing said button thereafter.

Has anyone managed to activate this option?

I shoot in aperture priority, but going in S mode, or in full manual, doesn't change a thing either...

OK, my mistake. I had my camera set in "burst" mode (is 2 pics a burst?). Evidently is doesn't work with LPC...

Yeah, it took me a while to figure it out on my own as well.

To be more clear, Perspective Control works only in "Single" Drive Mode.

While using "Single" Drive Mode, PC can be used with any Focus Mode (iAF, AFs, AFc), and yes as previously mentioned, PC works with all Digital Zoom Crops (28,35,50, 75, 90).

Another thing I discovered as a semi-shortcut to toggle Perspective Control without using an Fn button. If you previously had PC "On" in “Single Drive Mode”, it is automatically disabled when you switch to any other Continuous Drive Modes (2, 4, 7, 9, 15 fps), and then PC is automatically re-enabled when switching back to "Single" Drive Mode.

I’ve been doing this instead of using Perspective Control on an Fn button, which I’d rather use for another function.

Hope this is useful.

And how do you use it in Lightroom? When I import the image that i made with PC, single shot etc. the JPG is in perfect Perspective but the DNG not. I can't figure out what i'm doing wrong.

To enable LPC manually, click the "Guided" button in the Transform panel. Note that you can apply LPC even if you have not selected it in the camera.

To enable LPC automatically at import (only if enabled in the camera), go to Preferences>Presets>Raw Defaults>Global>Camera Settings (instead of Adobe Default).

I hope this helps.

I feel a bit stupid because i followed your instructions, on the import I see the picture corrected and when the loading is finished and I go into the develop section the un-corrected picture is there.

Are you using Lightroom Classic, and what version?

Have you set Preferences as shown below? (must be "Camera Settings").

Have you tried manually applying LPC by pressing the Guided button (see below)?

Hi, I have same issue - Lightroom is basically ignoring PC metadata when switching to Develop mode and clicking on Guide tool doesn't work.

When importing with Camera Settings, I am getting proper image in Preview but switching to Develop doesn't allow me to apply PC settings.

Might be an issue with Lightroom itself and we may need for an application update...

Why? You need to press that only if you want to modify LPC.

In my LR Classic implementation on Mac I have to press there to activate the PC. Then the picture that is primarily redered without PC jumps to strait falling lines (I can of corse change) as taken by my camera.

Maybe this will help, although I'm using an m11 it should be the same. Here is the behaviour with m11 and to compare, the behaviour with a Nikon Z6ii Raw which doesn't have Perspective Control data.

Lightroom Classic 12.4.

With Leica M11 DNG:  In Transform select Guided - Photo immediately straightens itself as expected. LRc cursor does not change.

With Nikon z6ii (no Perpective Control): In Transform select Guided - No change to photo. LRC cursor changes to allow you to manually set verticals and horizontals.

I have just obtained my Q3. Fantastic image quality etc.

Likewise having probs with Lightroom Classic V12.4 not using Leica Q3 Perspective Control.

But, I also have a Leica SL2 which does work with Classic V12.4 Guided Tool, even if shooting rapid, it remains in situ.

I am only assuming that this will work when Adobe do a further update.

The Auto on Q3 along with all other Transformation work.

I confirm that Leica Perspective Control does not work with the latest Lightroom Classic and Q3 files (downloaded sample from DPR). The necessary data is in the DNG, but Lightroom does not recognize it. Adobe lists Q3 as supported but is not applying the perspective correction. That is a bug and should be reported to Adobe and/or Leica.
