Well they make a nice pairing and you would also have the CL to use with any other lenses you use on your SL2s, frankly the weight and size of the CL you can just pop it in your pocket or bag with the body cap on and decide if you want the "extender" use or not, winner!

In almost every case, I would say, add an other lens, because it is hard to find a second body that equals the quality or the SL2-S. The CL is the exception, I would go for it.

If you do not have a backup already it can be a great addition. Extended range on every lens. Works with macro too, to give more DOF for the same magnification. And it can serve as the 'take it with you always' solution with a small lens like the 18, or any M compact lens with adapter if you do no not mind manual focus.

I think this clinches it.

100-400 weight alone is same as CL and 70-300

Back up role useful too, I had CL in past and loved it till I dropped it in a River

I never really got on with the ‘feel’ of S5 I foolishly replaced it with and which I traded in when I realised I only ever used the SL2S for this reason

CL 70-300 (450mm)

I often see these 2 swimming together at my regular swim spot
