Eugene Young Posted June 3, 2023 Share #1 Posted June 3, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all ! I got my Leica Q3 yesterday. I found some temperature on the camera body during taking photos. Anyone noticed this happening? Is it normal? I have owned several Leicas such as Q,M11, CL and never experienced this. Advertisement Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Hi Eugene Young, Take a look here Leica Q3 body heat. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Stephen_C Posted June 3, 2023 Share #2 Posted June 3, 2023 See this post and other related posts in the same thread. Were you using the LCD (rather than the EVF)? If so, that certainly appears to make the camera warm if used for a significant period. Stephen
Le Chef Posted June 3, 2023 Share #3 Posted June 3, 2023 You should check to see what else in the menu is switched on. Eg Live View and Review with LCD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc. Start by switching off all the things you don’t need and see if that reduces the heat.

axio Posted September 1, 2023 Share #6 Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) Yes, I noticed the Q3 is significantly warmer than the Q2 under similar operation, ie LCD off. Has anyone identified the specific function that causes the high heat? Edited September 1, 2023 by axio

I hope the resolve the problem. I don't think I can help @Doanduy My Q3 came with already firmware 1.2 when delivered. I am already using it with LCD off, exactly like I did with the Q2. But the body is significantly warmer, like a little hand warmer.
clasami Posted September 1, 2023 Share #9 Posted September 1, 2023 The camera gets a little warm. Disabeling WLAN and Bluetooth helps a bit. To disable Bluetooth, one needs to remove all mobile devices from Leica Fotos.

I think the menu setting caused the heat. After setting the menu It came back to normal, but I see that Q3 is a little bit warmer than that of Q and M because of high resolution sensor and evf. Miltz Posted September 3, 2023 Share #11 Posted September 3, 2023 I’ve been using the Q3 for a few days and I haven’t noticed heat issues. All cameras get warm when you use them, nothing abnormal here.
clasami Posted October 12, 2023 Share #12 Posted October 12, 2023 Disabled the Power Off function to test how long the battery will last in shooting conditions on the street (with no power down for faster action). Had it sitting for like an hour before touching it agian - and it was warm, really war. not hot, but warm. EVF still shut off after 30 seconds. So what generates the heat? Gateway77 Posted October 13, 2023 Share #13 Posted October 13, 2023 FYI - heating up on STANDBY issue. On a recent trip I put my Q3 back in my bag, not releasing that it was still in STANDBY mode (ie. looked like it was off / but not actually turned off). When I picked up the camera a couple of hours later it was exceptionally hot. The bag was padded and this had led to a potentially dangerous heat level building up. This only happened once and did not affect the cameras performance thereafter, but it did concern me greatly as I can't rule out a fire risk. Consequently I'm much more careful that the camera is turned OFF before stashing it. I've never noticed this with this any of my other Leica cameras. Zornie Posted February 1 Share #14 Posted February 1 I have noticed the same issue - even after using Q3 for a little bit, it gets warm. I received the camera yesterday, and it became warm after 10-15 minutes of just setting it up. I went shooting today, using only EVF - the same thing, the lens and the body got warm after 10 or so minutes, especially the bottom part near the battery and the SD card. Does anyone know the cause? Is this normal?
Le Chef Posted February 1 Share #15 Posted February 1 It’s a non issue for me. But I don’t have WiFi/BT/Fotos/Fc or anything else switched on which maybe making the difference. My battery also seems not to lose charge unless the temperature is well below 0C.

I switched off Fotos - the camera is not paired to any device. Does this disable Wifi/BT? I use Fs for focusing. Still, the camera gets warm
