My Q3 just arrived, charging the battery now and will play with it a little this weekend. It should compliment my SL2 system quite nicely! I think this will be the perfect camera to grab for last minute adventures such as when GF and I hop in the Jeep for a weekend of 4 wheeling and camping or when I have to go out of town on business trips.

Now to find a quality bag that does not look like one of my girlfriends many handbags...

I'm always curious to read everyone's comments on this thorny issue!

one idea always comes to mind for those who would like a Q with the 50mm...  :

My suggestion is the CL with the Summilux TL 35mm, an impressive duo. The result is very similar to the Apo SL 50mm.

So, yes, the CL is no longer manufactured, but it's still a bargain, and the set can be found in very good condition for around 2200€.  CL and TL 35mm.

That's 1/3 the price of a Q3, 1/2 the price of a used Q2 and, above all, the possibility of fitting M optics.

In my opinion, there's no equivalent on the market, and it's a true Leica.

Except the CL has a poor quality EVF, terrible autofocus, no ibis and no future path. At 2200€ is a rip off and in 2023 one is better served by literally any other brand, unless having a Leica is a necessity, especially considered that the newly announced a6700 is 1700€

I own many APS-C systems (Fuji, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Leica), and for my use (travel), I consider CL one of the best APS-C systems available (size, weight, image quality).

For wildlife shooting, there are better systems than CL.

I'm very happy to continue shooting with my CL, alongside my Q2. I see no issues with using it and have no desire to buy a Sony a6700 with a poorly configured UI. Thankfully I don't have GAS for the latest thing that comes along, and thankfully there a forums elsewhere for people who have that problem.

I'm with Torpille  on this one.  I bought the combination that he mentions last November and am delighted with the price I paid, form factor, image quality, etc, etc.  I have no desire whatsoever to rise further up the Leica ladder.  I do not care that the model is no longer made and when it eventually passes to camera heaven, I know that the experience will have been worth the cost and that my decision was right for me. Any limitations of the end results are mine not those of the camera.

It is awkward to carry.  I limit carrying the tripod to times when I know I’ll need it, and then usually in deep pants pockets, or, leave it attached to the camera and use it as a handle, legs collapsed. - It’s a compromise in comfort. Would the shorter head help?

I tried it with a small Gitzo travel tripod head. Not much better. It’s the shape of the legs that frustrate my efforts to pack, although these days I usually detach the head when carrying

My experience is limited. I’ve also got a Sunwayphoto T1A20D mini tripod (legs) that is pretty good and folds to center, like most tripods. Not as rock solid as the Leica, but still very good. Maybe others can be of more help. Hope you’re enjoying the camera!

Juste bought The Leica tripod. Very expensive (400 euro with the head ) but exactly what I need : it fits in my jean pocket ( I disassemble the head and the tripod but the two are in a sigle pocket), is very simple and stable and I don’t need plate.

The camera I ordered came in a couple weeks ago but I decided to pass because of the reported bugs and some of the issues.  I’ll wait to see what the next firmware fixes.  So while I wait I’ll just be happy with the SL apo summicrons.  Rough life for sure.

Not sure why there are so many complaints of bugs. I’ve had my Q3 for just over a month and I’ve taken 700+ shots on it and never had a problem with any freezes, crashes, hang ups, etc.

I upgraded to firmware v1.1.0 as soon as I unboxed the camera and I’ve been using Kingston Canvas React Plus SD Cards which is what I also use on my SL2-S. My Q3 has been absolutely rock solid.

I don’t notice any bug.
The only thing I have to care is to disconnect the WiFi network with Leica after transferring my pictures on my iPhone. If I don’t, the camera remain open and become hot.
I have a canon and a Fujifilm. Leica is the only camera I can easily transfer my photo in WiFi.
Till now I used a card sd reader.

I have found this also, the Sony and Fujifilm apps are useless, so far it's been very easy to transfer Leica files over wifi.
