jaapv Posted May 8, 2023 Share #2  Posted May 8, 2023 Photoshop is a steep learning curve; I am with the program since 2001 and I am still learning.  Get a good book for instance by Scott Kelby or start with online tutorials. Better still use Lightroom  Photoshop will import the files  using Bridge. Importing into Elements self-evident when you attach your card reader and open the program.
Farrell Gallery Posted May 8, 2023 Share #3  Posted May 8, 2023 Is it a current version? You’re best off with Lightroom classic and photoshop on adobe cloud.
Douglas Anderson Posted May 8, 2023 Author Share #4 Â Posted May 8, 2023 Thank you Jaap and Farrell - my version of Elements is the latest 2023 and yes, I agree Scott Kelby books are great. I have his Elements 2020 book and am also reading Elements 2023 for Dummies - "an appropriate title for me". I am wondering if there may be something wrong with my iMac, which is brand new. Also checking into that because I inserted the memory card into my MacBook which read the card properly and downloaded the DNG files without a hitch. I used the same card reader for both so that is why I am wondering about the iMac computer being the issue. Kind regards and appreciate the prompt responses. SrMi Posted May 8, 2023 Share #5 Â Posted May 8, 2023 Photoshop Elements was created for beginners and is probably a good choice when starting. Lightroom and Photoshop are for more advanced users, though Lightroom is much easier to use than Photoshop.

Douglas Anderson This is quite possible; Bridge needed two updates to be able to read an SD card when used with Silicon Macs. Maybe Adobe has not yet updated PS Elements, it is a bit of an orphan program nowadays. I would prefer Lightroom over Elements if you want to proceed beyond being a beginner. mikeLD Posted May 8, 2023 Share #7  Posted May 8, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Douglas, Your SD Card should be formatted in your camera using the Format option in the menu. There are two ways to download the images: One is to remove the sd card, and use an adapter to download the files into your computer. I happen to use this method because it is a faster transfer than second method. I use an adapter called Rocketek RT-CR3A which you can find on Amazon. The second way is to use the FOTOS Leica application through your cell phone to download the files and then you will need to transfer them to your Mac via a wireless transfer app on your cell phone. FOTOS is handy for controlling your camera remotely sometimes, but I find the download speed especially for DNG files to be too slow. I can use the first method much faster. Hope this helps. Keep asking as needed this is a great source of help. jaapv Posted May 8, 2023 Share #8 Â Posted May 8, 2023 If one is inexperienced stay away from FOTOS as a serious download tool, although it works well in most cases there are too many reports of users having issues.
bill_murray Posted May 8, 2023 Share #9  Posted May 8, 2023 Elements should import DNG files.... see this page from the Adobe help pages... https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/photoshop-elements/getting-started/import-photos-videos.html
jaapv Posted May 8, 2023 Share #10  Posted May 8, 2023 Yes, but the problem with Adobe was that Mac Silicon-Ventura computers did not recognize the SD card.
