rollsman4 Posted May 1, 2023 Author Share #21 Posted May 1, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just sold the S007 and 70 lens, I now have the SL2S and looking to buy a lens for it. The 1st choice is 24-90 SL 3100-3300 2nd Choice: 24-70 SL 1900 Both Used I dont need the extra length. And I prefer Constant F stop( aperture). I do see lots of excellent reviews on the 24-70Sl I am NOT concerned about the Sigma story. Leica coatings and QC are important. TY I appreciate the info

davidmknoble Posted May 6, 2023 Share #24 Posted May 6, 2023 I also think the S system still produces better colors out of camera meaning less time tweaking. Compared to the SL2 the dynamic range to the S007 iz about 3-4 stops. I’ve always gotten better portraits with the S lenses regardless of the SL2S or S body. Just a thought
LeicaS2 Posted May 18, 2023 Share #25 Posted May 18, 2023 I finally added an SL2 and a APO 90mm lens to my M and S (007) My impetus was for portraits, the SL AF beats manual focus on an M. Sure the 120mm S lens was my go to portrait lens, but the combo is pretty massive. I do not shoot models, I shoot people who frankly relax more with smaller systems. I love the S optical viewfinder which remains spectacular, but while the optical system was designed for fashion photographers, it’s landscapes where I prefer it to electronic viewfinders. However, I like the option of long lenses for landscapes and only the SL has long lenses. I enquired the idea of selling the S, and was told I might as well keep it, as demand for used S 007 is so low right now the prices are way below the value. So I’m keeping it. Jeff S Posted May 18, 2023 Share #26 Posted May 18, 2023 And of course you can adapt your S lenses to the SL2. Jeff
LeicaS2 Posted May 19, 2023 Share #27 Posted May 19, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks, I tested the S to SL adapter and didn’t like the combo. I’m glad Leica provided that option, but not for me. If I want to use S lenses I’ll use an S.
ropo54 Posted May 19, 2023 Share #28 Posted May 19, 2023 I'm very impressed with the performance of S lenses on the SL and particularly the SL2-s. I'm beginning to think that the S lenses focus even faster on the SL2-S, and eye detect focus and image stabilization are really nice plusses. Maybe not as quick as SL lenses, nor quite as crisp, but very impressive. These photos of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz were taken a few years ago with the SL 601 and S120.
