Nice glow!

I just picked up. CL about 18 months after selling my Paul Smith CL. The blue paint had  started to chip off the bottom of the Paul Smith, after only a short while, so as I got a silver chrome one this time, I also purchased a CL protector. Very pleased with that as it adds about 9-10mm to the overall height of the camera, and has a magnetic flap to allow easy access to batter and SD card slot. Very comfortable grip now. Really pleased!

Hi Stephen, mind telling me what protector you bought?  I purchased a second hand one by Leica that was useless and was returned.  The hinge was held on by glue that failed after about six battery changes.  Thanks

Hi David, it is a Leica branded one, purchased from UK Leica website, but they can’t have any in stock in UK as was shipped from Germany. Flap seems sturdy enough, and at least buying from Leica I can throw it back at them if the flap does fail!
Leica part number is 19524. Looked at flap and can’t see hinge as there either isn’t one or it is covered by leather strip that covers rest of flap and is sewn to the solid part of the base. Seems quite solid to me.

Thanks Stephen, now I think about it, it wasn't the hinge but the position at one of the ends of the base that failed.  Glad your's is OK

I have two half-cases for the CL. One was the original, "official" Leica product for the camera, which works well but is somewhat inconvenient as you have to remove it to fit a tripod mount or get to the battery/SD card. The other one was made by seller "jasoncui2" and sold through Ebay in 2018, it is convenient in that it has a flap to allow battery and SD card access, and you can fit a tripod mount to the securing screw.

Unfortunately, I have not been about to locate this second case or the seller on Ebay at this time, but there are a competing products that look very similar now, if you do a search for "Leica CL leather half-case".

Interesting, the ‘official’ one I have has the battery/SD card flap, but you still cannot fit a tripod. So half way house!

Hello,

I've had this Artisan & Artist model for 3 years for Leica CL and it's really well made: http://www.artisan-n-artist.com/product_detail.php?id=495
I don't know if it's still for sale. Maybe you should ask them.

Guytou

B&H lists it as no longer available. There are a couple on Ebay (red, from Japan, Germany) listed at $133 and $110 respectively. Photovillage.com in NY usually has a lot of A&A stuff, but their website is just a skeleton at present ... better to call them and check.

Well I got a CL from one of the members on the forum: Black, with M -> L Leica adapter and extra batteries. Really nice compact setup. Now just need a fast 35mm full-frame lens - looking at Voigtlander 35mm F/1.4. VM, vers. II MC. Thanks again for all the helpful info....My first Leica!

I sold my CL last year and have regretted it ever since. I just picked up a used CL body from the Leica Store Miami for $1695, it's in like-new condition.  The problem is they sell as soon as they hit the used market. MPB had 3-4 in stock a few weeks ago, but they went fast. I like Miami, Josh and Dave are great. I recently bought one of the new 35mm Summicrons (Portugal) for a great price from a guy here in LA who got it bundled with an SL2 kit.  It balances great with both the CL and my SL2-S. Get a CL, will love it (I was a Nikon 1 fanatic too, back in the day).  :)

I got the CL and like it a lot! It is fun adapting vintage lens to it with the first adapter being the Leica M -> L.  I have been using on the CL: Yashica ML's, Nikon F's and the Voigtlander Noctron classic 40mm f/1.4. I would like to try some M42's, some Konica Hexagon AR's and more inexpensive vintage type lens.

It's nice to see that the angst which we saw across this forum immediately after Leica discontinued this camera has dissipated, followed by widespread appreciation. I wasn't exactly thrilled about the discontinuation but it didn't change a single thing about the performance of this great camera, and I'm at least as happy with it today as I was when I first brought it home. A well taken care of used CL can be an incredible value.

i agree the CL is a great camera. A lot of great cameras become discontinued that are still great. The company just moves on to newer models. I am enjoying my CL a lot. In the future, I would like to get the original digital SL as they are about the same price as a used CL. Of course keep the CL as well!

I've just reaquired one too

Primarily to use as a range extender but also to chuck in a pocket or bag with the my CL 40mm summicron lens as a 'ready or not'

Is there 24mm smaller than the sigma 3.5 out there?

The Leica 23 Summicron is slightly smaller than the Sigma, but not full frame, if that matters. A Canon 25 f3.5 LTM is tiny, nice lens unless you want auto focus, it would require a M to L adapter, and an LTM to M adapter.  Sorry I don't have a picture only the 25 on my M8. I first thought I could get by with the Canon, butI really wanted a faster lens, picked upthe 23 Summicron.
