hundredwaters Posted April 11, 2023 Share #1 Posted April 11, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear Forum Members - I am currently in Costa Rica with my M11 and just discovered that it is not charging. I had tested it with a mixed-function 3rd party 100 Watt wall charger at home and apple USB cables and it did fine. However, now it is not charging. I have an iPad pro, two Apple USB-C cables, the Leica USB to lightening cable (? - the one for the iPhone) and I have tried turning the camera on, then off, just off, also the iPad pro charger. With the 100 was brick charger it initially shows its charging and the green light blinks, but then it turns off after about 20 seconds. I tried from a MacBook pro 16" 2021 as well and it didnt work. Is there any way to get it to trickle charge and if which combination should I choose. Honestly - totally unacceptable nightmare. Thank you!

hundredwaters Posted April 11, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted April 11, 2023 Thank you! Can it charge through the lightening cable? Or from the iPhone? I though it was supposed to be able to do that?

Usually the led indicator is a mess though it’s charging, try turn it on and off
marchyman Posted April 11, 2023 Share #5 Posted April 11, 2023 I had a "not charging" issue shortly after receiving my M11. A camera reset resolved the issue. I did not save my profiles on the off chance that a bad profile had something to do with the issue. Didn't take that much extra time to configure the camera to my liking. DenverSteve Posted April 12, 2023 Share #6 Posted April 12, 2023 Like Marchy said, whenever I have any "glitch" or anomaly, (rare) I do a reset, reformat of the card and internal memory. It seems as though you're possibly having an anomaly. I have never had any issues with charging. I use any charger I have lying around and no type of issues. Your camera will only use necessary wattage charging so I see no reason to use a charger of any particular wattage. I think my normal travel charger is my MacBook 61W charger. Never an issue. Jeff S Posted April 12, 2023 Share #7 Posted April 12, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Some charging tips here. Trickle charging is likely done using Leica charger, out of camera, beyond 80%. https://www.google.com/search?q=red+dot+forum+cable+for+charging+m11&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:fbda2a3d,vid:qJZL2m95h9U,st:5450 Jeff
Jeff S Posted April 12, 2023 Share #8 Posted April 12, 2023 Also, the supplied Leica cable is not designed for power delivery. https://www.reddotforum.com/content/2022/01/leica-m11-review-the-ultimate-digital-m/ Jeff
marchyman Posted April 12, 2023 Share #9 Posted April 12, 2023 Which supplied Leica cable? I'd argue that the cable used to connect the supplied external charger to the supplied power supply could also be used to directly charge the battery in camera.

Jeff meant the Leica FOTOS cable (lightning to USB-C).
