Mine was ordered the moment it went live on Leica's UK website, plus I've gone for the grip and the mat because I can use it for travelling with my AirPods and iPhone, plus I can also plug my M11's and SL2-S into it as well given the USB-A slot:

The Drop XL Wireless Charger is the perfect charging pad for the Leica Q3 camera when equipped with the Handgrip HG-DC1. It allows for effortless charging of the BP-SCL6 battery in approximately 180 minutes.

  • Powers the Leica Q3 camera with mounted Wireless Charging Handgrip HG-DC1 at up to 10W.
  • Can also charge other devices such as AirPods, iPhones, and other QI-compatible devices.
  • Features an extra USB-A port that allows you to charge up to three devices at once.
  • Crafted with a premium aluminum base and elegant fabric that gives it a stylish look and feel.
  • Includes a foreign object detection feature and thermal protection that ensures safe charging.
  • Can easily charge through housings up to 3mm.
  • Comes with an AC power adapter and a 2m power cord for easy and convenient use.

Just to add but some reviews are now commenting that Leica intend to make the new USB-C capable of audio input for a mic which would be the icing on the cake for those that like video, I think Fuji did something similar.

This won't be the first question on everybody's mind, but it's important for me: does the Q3 still have the 30min limit for video recording? (as per previously leaked specs).

If so, I can sell my Sigma fp and Q2, and replace both with the Q3 for static video recording of theatre performances.

From the specification PDF:

"Video: max. length: 29min"

First thoughts after some hands on- the new EVF is fantastic!! AF appears better but not earth shattering. Love the tilt display, but hate that the buttons now had to move right. The new brass accessories look and feel much nicer than expected. Pity that you still have to remove the grip to change batteries. Charging Plate is 175€, grip 199€. Alternate Hoods and Thumbgrips each >230€. The sensor will be great. A very competent successor to the Q2

Thank you, both. I shall have to get onto Leica to find out whether this limit is inherent in the hardware (e.g. to control heat dissipation), or whether it can/will be removed with a firmware update.

Any suggestions for the quickest way to purchase the Q3? Is it better to pre-order on bhphotovideo.com, wait for it to be back in stock on leicacamerausa.com, or wait for my local Leica store to call/email me (I was added to their waitlist this week via phone).
