edit: here it is: Leica Q3 camera leaked online again - Leica Rumors

apparently a camera store already jumped the gun and released a blogpost about the Q3. I saw it on reddit, unfortunately too late. Does someone have more luck finding an archived site?

I’ll try to get in touch with Red Dot Cameras and Aperture - places I’ve bought my Leica products from in the past. The only dilemma I have is if it’s better to try to sell M240 and 28/2 ASPH on eBay or try to get a trade-in offer - never tried it before.

With Aperture (my favourite London dealer) if time is not an issue then commission sale is far better than trade-in offer!

Got a quote for my DP Merrill collection (1,2 & 3) all boxed and in excellent condition £580. Left me speechless. Might go down the eBay route - I’d rather keep them than selling them for such a low amount.

I sold my Q2 Reporter to MPB for £3,150 but that was in March.  Maybe less now.

electronics depreciate fast. there are some exceptions with niche cameras but the market is usually small and there aren't many buyers. a store needs to factor that in when buying used goods from customers to resell (especially when they don't have an online shop with a big reach eg. local camera stores). it's no secret that selling to a shop is usually out of necessity rather than an objectively 'good deal' for the seller (you). Would you buy an aps-c camera with a fixed 50 2.8 from 2013 today? I certainly wouldn't.

The same doesn't necessarily apply to the Leica Q2. Some depreciation already happened. Used prices in Switzerland are floating around 4000 SFr. with the Q(1) sitting about halfway there. I think the Q2 won't depreciate much further even when the Q3 will be released later this week. The Q3 will be expensive and hard to get in the beginning, so the price of used Q2s will remain relatively stable (imho) until access to the Q3 gets better. I wouldn't offload my Q2 in a hurry for a lower price than it is worth in anticipation of the Q3 as the interest in used Q2s will only rise once the Q3 will be released.

I agree. They offered me a great trade in value for my Q2 against an M11. I decided to keep the Q2 but it was still a very tempting offer.

That's better

I have seen on the Dutch mpb, Marktplaats.nl  for 4200 euro

As noted elsewhere, secondhand sellers market is volatile.  Park Cameras UK, which I have previously found very good, offered £2,400 compared to MPB at £3,150.  That's a big difference for [what I thought would be] a desirable camera in perfect condition.  There was little speculation about the Q3 at that time, and of course, that has changed now.

I’d really like the long-exposure noise reduction to be switch-off-able on the Q3. I do a bunch of night photography and this function drove me insane, having to wait 3 minutes after a 3 minute exposure. I sold my Q-P as a result and bought an A7III and an X100V for everything else.

I’m strongly eyeing up a Q3. I skipped the Q2 though sorely tempted. The “all-in-one” ability of the Q3 with the higher pixel count for digital zoom is very attractive.

But pleeeeeeease make the LENR optional.

Did you send this message to Leica customer service too?
Hard for them to implement changes without user feedback

Many times. I note the latest Fotos app has a feedback option too.

Is everyone that is getting trade in prices, calculating the sales tax saving as well.  Here in BC we pay 12% sales tax.  In my case my dealer offered $3500.00 for my 2 year old Q2 which equates to $4200.00 towards a Q3.

Then hopefully if enough people ask for it, they will implement it. It's just a small firmware change. I requested it too, btw.

On the basis of how many people requested resolution of the wandering focal point over multiple models and how receptive Leica were over 6 years, you may be waiting for a while.
