And not just at f1.4, but through f8? It'd be nice to see how the lens performs with the close focus. Portraits would be nice, too. Welcome, dear visitor! kinetic Posted April 26, 2023 Share #187 Posted April 26, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm not sure how "special order" works, but I decided to order the clear T-PRO filter: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1540464-REG/b_w_1097731_46mm_t_pro_clear_filter.html I don't think the UV/Haze version would do much, but just in case I went with the one above. I think it says 2-4 weeks. Anyone else use this one?
mark1958a Posted April 26, 2023 Share #188 Posted April 26, 2023 Here is a reduced by uncrossed first picture at minimal focusing distance. Really does make a difference in terms of minimal focusing distance. Will try to take some more interesting images later if I have time The lens is sharp wide open but at 1.7/1.8 gets even sharper at least close up images. In any case I don't see much difference any difference is certainly within sample variation.
mosh1 Posted April 26, 2023 Share #190 Posted April 26, 2023 Does anyone with the black anodized version have a scale they can weigh the lens with? I'd like to see if Leica's spec of only 2g heavier than the old is accurate. It seems the lens should be heavier than 2g more that with the increased diameter. mark1958a Posted April 26, 2023 Share #191 Posted April 26, 2023 (edited) Here I took two images wide open I used minimal focus distance moving my body and then a second shot moving to 0.7m based on the click on the focus ring. Processed in PS with minimal adjustment to some of the exposure settings.. equal in both. The second example same thing except added clarity +15 Welcome, dear visitor! Kiwimac Posted April 27, 2023 Share #193 Posted April 27, 2023 I actually prefer the design of the ‘old’ version. I’ve got the 35 in the new close focus iteration. I’m not keen on the implementation. The detent between close and normal is way too weak.

mosh1 Posted April 27, 2023 Share #196 Posted April 27, 2023 So, Leica's specs are wildly off. Both on length and weight. 🙄

Guest Posted April 27, 2023 Share #198 Posted April 27, 2023 (edited) Owning the black anodized version for a couple of days now and having the older version on sale, this is my experience so far: Weight is 375g, so heavier than before. Doesn't bother me. Reason for me getting it was the 0.45 focusing distance - this is brillant an makes a huge difference to the older one. Makes much more sense to me than the CF on the 35mm FLE V2. This offers complete new opportunities and can be easily controlled in live view. So far only the 75 cron offered a similar magnification factor. I didn't like the ergonomics the older one offered, although it looked nice. The larger diameter is a plus for me in terms of handling and focussing - it gives you more torque when turning the focus ring The design of the lens shade works much better in use than the previous version, because it stays where it should stay. It looks good, at least to me, on the M11/M10 body, cleaner and a bit more refined and modern. The resistance overrunning the 0.7m is just right - not too firm-not too loose. Turning the focus ring too far won't happen, because of the position of the focussing tab - you will certainly recognize it. In this case no corrugation makes perfect sense. So well - everything quite satisfying at least for me. regards Edited April 27, 2023 by wellknown mistakes...

I don't understand how a company built on precision german engineering can so consistently mislabel the weight and dimensions of their products. 45g is a significant weight increase on this lens. Leica lenses keep getting heavier and fatter. 2
