btw, for those who use filters, what are you guys getting for this lens?

I've been trying to get Breakthrough.photography X4 filters, but they don't make them in anything less than 49mm anymore. I messaged them and they have zero ETA for anything in the 46mm size.

I might get the B+W MRC clear and maybe the X2 CPL for those super harsh days.

I had the opportunity to play a few minutes in the Paris Leica Store with the new lux 50 (on a M11M).

I have used the ‘old’ Lux asph a lot, being my go-to Lens for 10+ years, before I got the APO 50.

The design is nice looking. It is only a few mm thicker, but I really felt the difference coming from the v1 lux asph.

Whoa cool, a silver one! I didn’t know there were silver filters, perfect for a silver lens. Does this match Leica silver well?

it is better than black but no it is more titanium color, what is grey.

Leica makes a silver filter for the 50Lux-M. I have one on my current Lux. It looks like it would be a better match to the new Lux than mine which is brass.

Just a heads up, Adorama has the silver (11729) in stock now. I actually just ordered through them from Amazon (I had some rewards + prime card cash back). Their delivery estimate is a week longer than ordering direct from Adorama, but hoping to get the lens by May 1! I'll do some comparisons between that and my 50mm lux black chrome when it comes.

They’re out of stock now. But saw another lightly used one on FredMiranda!

For the times when I use ND or CPL filters -- will just use step up rings

My Voigtlander has that 0.5m focusing. I wish it wasn’t there and it stopped at 0.7m. It’s very annoying to have this close focus on a rangefinder that can’t focus that close. And I never want to be that close to anything.

I don’t like the new look and this fatter design. It just looks bad on a Leica M body to me. It’s not classic. It’s too modern and generic. I much prefer the previous design. I also like the look of the 50 Lux v2.

Maybe “modern and generic” are a sign of things to come. I’ll stick to my 10R and the classic lens designs.

I like the look of my Cron “v5”. It’s built in hood but it’s still small and looks classic. Beautiful lens. Very similar to the old v2 Summilux.

I dont know about the new 50 Summilux but the 35 APO has a stiff point which you have to override if you want to go to close focus. So you dont get in trouble with the rangefinder.

Yes, it's the same mechanism, although on my new Summilux 50 the resistance is a little bit weaker than on the 35 APO (I prefer the APO resistance personally)

I did some test today. the results are about the same for v1 and v2

here are some 200% views at 1.4

the new lens is a touch better in CA, and when closing down the bokeh is rounder
