yes, me too, hard to tell quite how the SL3 will handle in reality. I still wonder if the need to shrink the SL3 both gets its closer in size to the sony/canon/nikon peers, and also allows for some obvious open water between full frame and a possible S4 mirrorless, ie, to avoid the latter (if it ever emerges) not being too overly scaled in size vs the competition out there such as the X2D or GFX100 ii. Then again, my Mamiya 7 wasn't small and it handled wonderfully!

I strongly hope so too, including the four button layout and the perfected ergonomical shape. Loved so much the S.. 

I silently hoped the new SL3 would in some way get closer to the S design, becoming sort of a baby S, but those images proof me very wrong... 

Nevertheless and no matter the SL3 will finally look like, I'll keep my SL lenses.

Hard to see but there are a number of pixels that are toast. 

Lasers are a no go from now on, or I'll walk out of a job.

Well, that sucks....

We had a clause for years that the client had to cover laser, mist, liquid, chemical, and dust damage to our gear. Fortunately, never had to use it though.

The tiltable screen was bad enough for me, but an extra dial? And once you have those features, there's no going back. The SL4 will retain them. All they needed to do was to boost high-ISO performance -- and if you really must add more MP and better focusing abilities. For me, and I know opinions will vary, they've screwed it up big time. What's more, there's no sign of other APO or non-rebranded lenses. The SL2 (paired with an APO) will in the meantime remain a classic.

I agree... Beyond the line of superb Leica glass, the real appeal of the SL cameras is their design ethos. I've owned the SL Typ 601 and the CL Digital, both were a pleasure to use because of their minimalist design. As a nature shooter who regularly uses Nikon Z9/Z8 bodies, I drag out my Leica gear when I want to leave the computer-like interface and world of infinite programmable options behind and simply focus on my subject. 

The SL3 didn't even need a higher resolutions sensor, it just needed to fix its AFC performance.

Part of the issue is that people here are pondering an upgrade from an SL2, so they pick-out the small differences that might affect their workflow. What really matters to Leica is whether or not it will continue the consistent growth in L-mount adoption. It should, because it's likely to be the best platform for high-resolution imaging in full-frame.

I like the new design and love the extra dial. I have the other two dials set to aperture and exp compensation, so I can set the new one to change ISO and I won't have to delve into the menu anymore. This means that I can access all functions I need without taking off my eyes from my subjects. No more unnecessary distractions.

I think it will be a great camera and helpful in bringing more new people to the brand.

So that’s a win.  

Im not sure if it offers any “must have’s” over the already amazing sl2 and sl2-s because they can already do some heavy lifting.  

I look forward to trying one out.

As an SL2-S owner the only thing I'm hoping for is a camera with Leica colors and higher resolution with better higher ISO performance than the SL2 (which I used to own).  Judging by the Q3's performance, it seems like the SL3 should address my needs.
