Similar to the problems reported in other threads (here and here) my M11 (new late Sept) no longer works with Visoflex 2.  The M11 no longer recognises the presence of the EVF and the EVF controls in the menu remain greyed-out when either EVF or EVF Extended have been selected and yes - I have gone through all the checks and actions associated with the issue.  The Visoflex 2 works perfectly with my M10M so unfortunately (and most annoyingly) a four month old camera costing £7500 will have to be returned to the UK dealer.  Will ring them in the morning (Wed) to discuss the issue.

Just an idea, but have you checked if there is any "fluff" trapped in the recessed connections for the VF on the M11 shoe? This might only happen I you don't normally use the hotshoe cover.

sorry to hear it, I had the same issue in the past and went to the Leica Store and tested different cameras and EVF's

for me it turned out the contacts needed cleaning, I. used a wet lens wipe from Zeiss on the camera and VF2, it now works again for the last 3 months.

but it can be that your is different

I got a new m11 in november, and just got a visoflex 2 for it - and same issues as mentioned above. Just went to Japan, and a Leica store tested the Visoflex 2 on another body and works fine. On my m11, it makes the lcd screen flicker, but doesn't 'come on' in the EVF. Noticed a slight wiggle room as the Visoflex was new and I inserted it in the hot shoe, which worried me, and now it has ceased to function. Leica store in Shibuya thinks its the m11, not the visoflex. So frustrating, also being on a big trip.

Thanks for all the suggestions, all of which I have carried out, including examining the pins with a magnifying glass.  Nothing seems to be amiss, so presumably the problem is internal.

What was resolution?

I had the same problem, but with M10-R BP, not so with M11 Mono. My dealer even replace my first Visoflex 2, but things go the same with the replacement. And than all of a sudden, all the problems vanished. I ask myself, what I did different, and only explanation which come to my mind was, that I mount Visoflex 2 on the camera, when it was still on off. Only than I switch it on, an Visoflex worked perfectly ever since.

It is very clear instruction from Leica, only mount and unmount with camera turned off - so maybe for a reason.

Same here / was a very intermittent behaviour with the thing going on/off all the time/ incredibly unstable.   Had one replaced a while back and same issue with the new one. And then firmware after firmware all good. I suspect they have changed some timing in the system so that if the connection is lost for a very short time, there is no reset and the thing has time to go back to use. I do not follow the on/off instruction and all is fine (and I do not follow it as at the time it was not possible to do so with the thing loosing connection 10 times in a row...).

have the same issue with the M11 from time to time... You may want to try the following:

1. Use the latest firmware

2. Reset camera and rebuild profiles from scratch. Do not use import/export functionality for the profiles

3. and most importantly: clean the contacts of the hot shoe with a drop of alcohol (even if the contacts look totally clean). These part of the M11 seems to be extremely sensitive with regard to minimal amounts of dust
