I cannot set the ISO dial to 400.  It clicks either before  - which I assume is 320 - or after - which I assume is 500.

My MP clicks perfectly on all settings.  Pic of my MP, and my 2022 M6.

Anyone else here with a new M6 with this issue?

The settings that lock are clearly the authorised film speeds. If anyone uses an unauthorised film like ISO 400, they may experience problems such as film scratching. Obviously misuse of the camera in this way would be a user error, which is outside Leica's control and may void the warranty.

I don't think the dial on the original was much more precise either. Maybe it is hard to match the arrows to two scales instead of just one as on your MP.

Is it only at the 400 that the detent doesn't align or is the index pointer off by the same amount at every detent?

I had to run and check my 1984 M6...

Hmmm...interesting! On the '84 the detents line up perfectly with all the indices.  Also when set at ISO 400, the opposite one points directly at the 27.  Whether 400=27 is correct or not, I have no idea.

ASA 400 = DIN 27 = ISO 400

If you want to read in on the subject

So, mine is a '97, and it seems that other settings are slightly off on 100, 200, 400 etc. Maybe as a German company they favor the DIN settings :)

Thank you and dpitt.  I had not considered the DIN setting as I have never used that, just ISO. Looking at the film I have right in front of me, Kentmere (on the box) only has ISO.  HP5 has ISO and DIN.  Kodak Tmax only ISO. Fuji Acros II only ISO. FUJI 200 ISO and DIN.

Appreciate the heads up!  This is another reason I prefer my MP, no doubt what it is set to and no need to check DIN vs ISO!  But this was the whole point of recreating the M6 I guess.

That makes sense, just a flaw in design or manufacturing then. You'd think they would redesign that with the new release, actually no you wouldn't think that.

Just another reason which pushes the MA ahead of M6 or mp… my ISO setting is spot on regarding dial but… makes no difference as MA doesn’t need reading since I have no ‘meter’ :)😜
