This compur Elmar's serial number fits in the 1952 year of production list . The Varob is an enlarging lens and can be adapted to some mirrorless cameras : http://oldlenses.blogspot.com/2011/05/leitz-varob-5cm-f35-enlarging-lens.html?m=1

Ecar Posted March 4, 2023 Share #145 Posted March 4, 2023 (edited) This GAS-inducing thread 😉 and the fascinating info provided by @shirubadanieru made curiosity get the better of me (that was easy 🙄) and I started looking for a short 50mm “old” Elmar with Goertz glass. I have/had several Elmars, but was not aware of the subtleties of the earlier versions. Long story short, I found one (at a VERY reasonable price I should add – I don’t think the vendor was versed in Elmar history either 😁). It’s engraved #1, so a fairly early copy, probably from 1926. The glass is good, with few cleaning marks and a little bit of haze, only the aperture is very stiff (I doubt the lens has ever been opened or, if it has, that must have been a long time ago). A CLA is therefore in order. Upon its return, should anyone be interested, I am planning to compare it to a “new” nickel Elmar, engraved #4, therefore probably a couple of years younger, but made with Schott glass. In the meantime, below are a picture OF the lens on the M10M and a picture of one of my usual test “subjects” taken WITH the combo @ f/3.5. Welcome, dear visitor! pgk Posted March 5, 2023 Share #150 Posted March 5, 2023 (edited) A couple more from the 1938 35/3.5 on the M9. Whilst it is clearly not a modern lens it isn't a slouch either. Flare is the usual problem with uncoated lenses; perhaps the small size of the glass may to help minimise reflections. With a bit of care in PS any softening towards the edges can also be minimised.
