The Violinist.  The skin tones this camera produces are simply the most satisfying, IMHO.  It's why I won't let it go.

Yesterday was our annual Ironman Wisconsin competition with nearly 2500 people participating. The day before, there was an "Iron Kids" event, which consisted of two laps of 1/2 mile each around our Capitol Square. These kids were barely over the half way point when I shot them. I don't know if they made it to the finish line, but it's doubtful. They are probably cursing their Ironman parent for making them do this run.

Our annual Ironman Wisconsin competition. The first phase is a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 110 mile bike ride through hilly countryside, then finishing with a 26.2 mile marathon. In the first photo people are packed into a starting area. In the second, some of the pro competitors are getting used to the water temperature. In the third, they're churning water at the start of the 2.4 mile swim. I didn't shoot any of the bike portion, but the last shot is some of the fastest people on the second half of the marathon.

My neighbor's Samoyed was outside today so I took advantage of the moment. I'm amazed I got her to hold still long enough for this. She is extremely frisky.

Thanks, and funny, I was driving south on the interstate this morning and  Jeff Beck's rendition was playing. I've been playing around with the tune the past couple months which is why it's on the piano stand. Wonderful tune.   David

Three fiddlers who were part of an end of summer festival called the Willy Street Fair in my city. I went up to the kid's dad (not in photo) and said, "she plays well." His reply was, "Thanks, but she's a he."  Oops.

Two more from the Willy Street Fair. This guy is known as the Bubblemaster. He's an excellent photographer, teacher and long-time friend.

...."probably" the  28 Elmarit pre asph!? How can you mistake that flat field!? ;) Kidding aside, that is a favorite lens on the MM for me, at least for landscapes.

I've only had the lens a few weeks (I swapped the Asph version for it - I had grown tired of the strong contrast on that lens) so I haven't grown familiar with its qualities yet! As so often I'd forgotten to set the lens detection and as I'd also been using my 21mm I wasn't 100% sure which it was. Pretty certain now that it was the 28 though. I'm very pleased with it - results are beautiful and I also find its handling better than the tiny Asph. It's version 4. Oh, and as my copy's cosmetics are a little scruffy I made a bit of money on the deal, which never hurts. 😀

I also had the ASPH version some years back. The high contrast was an issue for me as well. The 28 Elmarit v4 does everything you want and  from f 2.8 is already sharp corner to corner. I had the Summicron for a while and the rendering feels like that one to me exception of f2.  I also more often than not forget to adjust my settings! :)

MM1 + Summilux 35mm. I traded both for an MM2. Was regretting the Summilux. ....But now amazed by a SummaritR 35mm.
