I’ll start with a recipe which needs only two pictures: set storage options to “DNG +JPG only on SD” take 2 SD cards A & B, preferably the same size. Back them up, if needed, before this test insert card A, format it in camera, take 1 picture and remove card A from camera insert card B, format it in camera, and immediately remove card B from camera insert card A again, and take 1 picture switch the camera off and observe the red LED next to the cursor pad on the back. Freeze… I confirm! Tested on two of my M11s. A very important find and an easily reproducible bug! I hope it helps the developers

It seems however that it is far away from earth now, close to a black hole.

Smogg Posted April 5, 2024 Share #2048 Posted April 5, 2024 (edited) And I'm also interested to know: will SL3/Q3 freeze too? Who can try? Edited April 5, 2024 by Smogg
Edax Posted April 5, 2024 Share #2049 Posted April 5, 2024 Just now, Smogg said: And I'm also interested to know: will SL3 freeze too? Who can try? No, because the freeze is caused by the "card exchange with unpowered M11 not handled properly in firmware" issue. The SL3 has a separate card door, no need to remove the battery for card exchange over there.

If thanks to you Leica finds a bug that it has been looking for for 2.5 years, then you deserve a monument!🙏

Been a beta tester in the past but not on the M11 anymore. My aim is the diametral opposite, i.e.doing my best to avoid glitches, but i'm glad people like you try to push the camera into fault if it can help Leica😎

Smogg Posted April 5, 2024 Share #2054 Posted April 5, 2024 Thus, if you do not touch the battery and use only USB transfer, then there is a good chance to avoid freezes.

Freeze… Afterwards, format card A, before using it again OK. I'm curious. I have two cards of the same size and time to spare. Let's see. 1. Storage mode changed 2. Don't need to back anything up 3. A formatted in camera. Image taken. Card removed from camera (after powering camera off) 4. B formatted in camera. B removed (after powering camera off) 5. Card A inserted. Picture taken. 6. camera switched off. As you said: freeze. This is the only freeze I've seen in my camera since purchase. Of minor interest is that after popping the battery to clear the freeze the card reports no valid images. Now I'll use SD Formatter to do an overwrite format on both cards and hopefully won't see a freeze again as the above machinations are nothing close to how I use the camera.

You won't see any if your camera works like mine but i did only quick format in SD Card Formatter as i usually do.
