Ah, I didn't know that but I suppose it makes sense. Leica Store Manchester is an independent, so no restrictions there. I've purchased products from Manchester, bought my Q2 Reporter from them, and Ben Stephens is a nice person to deal with.

But I wonder if Leica would even do that or base it instead on the rumored S1 II. With the M11 severe teething problems I see can the logic of going with the tried and true SL2-S. Looks more like what I’d expect for the SL3-S. Maybe we’ll get that before we get the SL3.
hamey Posted January 6, 2023 Share #27 Posted January 6, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) As long as Leica continue using Panasonic electronics I will be very happy. My first radio was a National Panasonic which I got with my pocket money back in 1965, it still works. Unlike Sony, I have had a few problems with them over the years. That said, the generic aramid fiber they're using for the SL2-S Reporter seems less prone to fraying than the DuPont Kevlar brand fiber they used on my M10-P Reporter. The fiber on my SL2-S has faded much more quickly, however, turning a light gray color from the original black. It does not fade to green to match the body as originally advertised.

Hi @hdmesa, thanks for the info and sharing. However, I've order on it and reporter color just look nice for me. Hopefully it won't fraying quickly like M10-PR or Q2R. Stereophonie Posted March 23, 2023 Share #34 Posted March 23, 2023 Hi! I have also jumped the SL2S Reporter bandwagon yesterday. Exchanged my M10P for the Reporter, keeping the M10Monochrome. Had the SL601 years ago, traded it due to the very slow AF but still miss the beautiful colors from the SL601. I got the APO 35mm SL along with the Reporter and will use my M-lenses alongside. Looking forward to the SL viewfinder, as I was not a fan of the Visoflex on the M10. And, being 52, focusing seems to be easier on the SL. And it will be fun to see the APO35SL performing next to my trusted 35mm FLE M. Will get the camera and lens next week. I am happy and curious!

Gavin G Posted March 26, 2023 Share #36 Posted March 26, 2023 Received my reporter! Sexy look and I love it so much which compared to black color I've sold last year. New start with few Sigma lenses first, will move to APO if have chance. However, I found the Aramid material been raised after hands on, hopefully it won't fraying quickly or getting seriously. Almizilero Posted September 21, 2023 Share #37 Posted September 21, 2023 Hi all, let me resurrect this thread. I'm still looking for a second body and while I was sure I didn't want a second SL2-S for money reasons, along came a Reporter at a very reasonable price (I know, doesn't make sense, but that's just me). So, for the owners of the Reporter version, what's the difference? As far as I know, the standard version is wheather sealed as well, so is the Reporter even better sealed? Leicas website isn't really much help in pointing out the differences between the two. The one I was looking at has quite some fraying on the fibers, could this cause any problems in the future or even negate the advantages of the Reporter? On the other hand, there were basically no abrasion of the paint, something that developed within days on my normal version, just by moving it in and out of the photo bag. So yeah, basically I'd be interested why people choose the Reporter over the standard version and if it worth it in the end.
Stereophonie Posted September 21, 2023 Share #38 Posted September 21, 2023 Difference is just looks. Wrapping will look used, but no real issue. But looks are just gorgeous!!!
LocalHero1953 Posted September 21, 2023 Share #39 Posted September 21, 2023 I have the Q2 reporter. The fibre is beginning to go grey-green in some areas, but is otherwise OK. I really like the extra grip it gives (and the colour of the camera body)
Almizilero Posted September 21, 2023 Share #40 Posted September 21, 2023 OK, if it's just looks I'll pass. I'm super happy with the stealthy look of the SL2-S. Only thing that could really tempt me is the silver SL2, but that's another price league alltogether ...
