If you have some examples of reviews that have called out faults/failures then feel free to share them, I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

There you go again, suggesting there's a smoking gun. You make the accusation but that doesn't make it true, it just proves talk is cheap. And at at the very least it's you that should prove it, nobody else is going around saying that Leica reviewers are pathological liars.

To respond to a suggestion by 250swb…. If Huss is a frequent Leica naysayer/complainer…. Perhaps either of these options exist.

(a)… a bum camera purposely delivered

(b)…. Your continued efforts and naysayer posts on this forum have caught Leica management attention and they have flagged your camera into a category where it will ‘eventually’ be fixed.

Of the two options… My bet is on option B as far more likely.

I wouldn't call them minions, or even that you had more than one, look I was exaggerating, more a hanger-on.

Checks and balances come with perspective and healthy scepticism about some of the claims now being made in this thread, not from joining in with a mardy tirade which now includes a growing number of conspiracy theories. In as recent a post as #279 all the reviewers are in-on-it, and we know everybody and their dog knows how to run Leica. The only thing that hasn't been addressed yet is was this really a random event? Why did you receive this particular camera, was it directed to you by a disgruntled whistle blower from the 'Department of Scratches' maybe, or Leica themselves knowing that 'there's no such thing as bad publicity? Well, it's not as impossible as some of the claims 😄

Oh my goodness, talk about conspiracy theories!  Yours is I deliberately arranged to have a defective camera shipped to me, so I could start this thread.  And apparently had people with fake defective cameras join in!

Wow.  Fan Boi Extremus!  It would be funny if it wasn't disturbing.

Heads up - I received an email from Leica support saying my camera has been shipped back to me.

No tracking info -  I am on the phone trying to get that.  FYI their email saying

Guess what?  That extension does not work.  Says invalid.

I also want to know what they fixed so I can relay it to those who care, and not to those who think that a defective Leica hurts their very existence and meaning on this planet, so must be denied.

Oh you are so gullible. No, the whistle blower directed it towards the biggest fog horn so the scandal can be exposed. But I’m only teasing and joining in with the conspiracy theories, there isn’t really a whistle blower, just a fog horn.

Rrright.  So in your mind l-camera forum is only a place where people sing praise to Leica.  And nothing else will be tolerated because it cannot be true.

That there is your checks and balances.

I’ve said many times that there is a problem with scratches so why do you continue to put words in my mouth and suggest I’m denying it? I get it, you are hurting that your camera is a brick, I’m only having trouble understanding what you think you are gaining after nearly 300 posts? Leica aren’t going to offer you a job so you can reorganise them, your camera is being repaired, you’ve forgotten whether people agree with you or not so default to attack, and I for one am not going to pat you on the head for the thread you’ve created no matter how much you whine and cry.

As there was no tracking number I tried to call in - first using the extension provided above.  The extension is invalid.  Then I called the general number, and used the routing tree to get to service. After being on hold for 1 hour 10 minutes with no-one picking up, I hung up.
I sent an email asking for tracking number, and also enquired as to what was wrong and what was fixed.

I am looking forward to getting my M6 back in proper operating order, so fingers crossed.. But Leica does not make this easy!

ps. not sure why it does not show the leica repair email address when I try to post it.

"After being on hold for 1 hour 10 minutes with no-one picking up, I hung up."

Sounds like they are using the customer service protocols originally developed by insurance companies! 🤣

Hope there is actually a "Leica product" actually on the way!

So, any plans on what you are going to do with your life now? It all seems like a bit of an anticlimax after all the fuss you’ve made only to find it hasn’t taken that long after all. So much for Leica having to deal with thousands of cameras, so much for the peripheral chatter blaming everything and everybody, so much for manufacturing misquotes and getting your knickers in a twist. On the upside I guess we’ll see some photographs that justify why you bought it. But if it still causes scratches maybe start another thread 😆

Well.  To keep the suspense going they replied and said actually the camera is not on its way back!  But in a few days it should be.  So I guess the email was wrong there.  And they will notify me of the tracking number when it actually ships.

I have asked three times now what they did to fix - no reply.  Maybe there will be a note in the package?  Then, the anticipation of testing the camera to see if it actually is fixed!

My oh my, we have a cliff hanger situation here!

p.s. as someone who goes commando, there is no way for me to get my knickers in a twist.  Knickers are expensive and I - very willingly might I add - made this sacrifice so I could buy the new M6.  That's a whole lotta knickers.

It's been five weeks so far with no camera back yet.  But I guess a fan boi would think that is not so long after all.

Did leica mention anything about what has been repaired or serviced? Of course the camera is coming back to the original owner… it’s just many cases, the camera just took a round trip without making any changes .. hope you get back what you paid for Huss! And start enjoying it

The last time I bought a new Leica body (an M10) was four or five years ago and I've used it only a few times since. I can't remember when I last bought a new Leica lens but it would probably be around 2006. It was only last weekend that I got the M10 out for the first time in a year and the vast majority of the photos I posted in the last two or three years in the 'I Like Film...' open thread, or on Flickr, are made with Nikon or medium format cameras. So you have very exaggerated criteria for what makes a Leica fan boy, I mean somebody who buys a new Leica camera that's a copy of one that already exists, brags about it, and then gets deflated and takes it hard couldn't be called a fan boy by their reactions could they?

Are you afraid of using it?
