I installed the new firmware and used my M11 connected to my iPhone for about2 hours yesterday. My phone use about 50% of the battery maintaining the bluetooth connection to my camera on "eco" mode. That's not good.

What are others experiencing?

Bud James

Please check out my fine art and travel photography at www.budjames.photography.

Please explain what You mean with "connected". Did You have a WLAN connection which enabled You to see an download photos? This uses much power. But it is not necessary for geotagging. Geotagging works in the background and needs very few power if camera and iPhone are paired, the camera is on (and in Eco or Perfomance mode) and both are not far away from eachother. The fotos App has not to be active.

With this new firmware, I discovered something interesting. Previously, we can only apply perspective correction in Lightroom when we use live view or Visoflex. Now it seems that focusing through RF without invoking live view or using Visoflex can have the perspective correction applied to the RAW image in Lightroom. This is really quite handy. Has anyone else tried this as well?

That is correct. Bluetooth works but NOT WIFI. The latter is required when you want to use full functionality of Leica FOTOS as e.g. transfer of your images from camera to the app.

I think that nothing has changed regarding Perspective Control from "old" to 1.6.0.0

My experience is otherwise. I know it’s not on the release notes but that’s what I found out this afternoon.

The PC data is written regardless of whether or not you have PC enabled/disabled, LV enabled/disabled, V2 attached/sitting in the bag. The numbers are presumably generated by level sensor which operates independently from all of the above. Exactly the same as it was with the M-10R.  I just reconfirmed this on my M11 prior to upgrading to 1.6 (from 1.5.0.1). I also checked if the PC numbers were written if you have level assistance turned off and indeed they are.  So if you have earlier files you want to apply PC to in LR, it should work.

Hello, is anyone able to download pictures from the M11 to his or her Mac through Image Capture? All of a sudden after the FW 1.6 upgrade, I get the following error message from Image Capture

The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.ImageCapture error -9934.) (-9934). An error occurred while importing. The item “L1002018.DNG” was not imported

I never got any error like this one before. I just upgraded, took a few more photos. And then after connecting the camera, I get the list of pictures (but the thumbnails are empty!). Any download from the M11 to the Mac fails. I restarted my laptop and still... no settings change in the M11. I will investigate more but I just want to see if anyone experienced something similar.

Thanks

I did notice this but it seemed to coincide with my MacOS Ventura upgrade. I haven't upgraded my firmware yet and started having this issue with Ventura.

Thanks. I upgraded to Ventura the day it became available and was able to use Image Capture for M11 downloads.

Now after the firmware update, it stopped working with this error message. Restarted the Mac, formatted the internal memory of the M11 and took just one picture. Same problem... So can no longer use the Mac-to-m11 direct connection for image download. I will wait for more feedback before escalating to Leica.

Have you tried using Android Transfer instead?

Hi. In fact I just figured out what could be the problem. Usually I keep C1 running in the background all the time. Now this is what I see in terms of behaviour, which could have changed when I upgraded to C1 v23 and /or the M11 FW 1.6

- When C1 (v23) is running and I connect the camera it takes control of the cam. I can even see the camera live view in C1 and take snapshots from the app (though I could not see where the captured image is stored)

- In that case the MacOS Image capture does not work as I explained earlier

- If I exit C1 then yes, Image Capture works again as usual and as expected!

Which means that Image Capture only works if C1 is not running

So it looks to me like an interaction problem between the M11, C1 and Image Capture which could have happened due to a version upgrade (C1 and/or the M11 fw). In any case I am quite tired of all the tests, I will try to validate the above tomorrow.

Android Transfer does not connect to the cam (error message) but it could also be an interaction problem.

Thanks

that has been always an issue on the Mac , if you have other apps that take over the connection then you will have problems with some apps

Only issue is it's 10 months late...

I do not feel that I missed anything in the last 10 months, before this firmware came out. However, I am glad that Leica keeps improving this wonderful camera.

The release firmware was an absolute disaster; Do users not remember things like the function buttons that worked intermittently? Flickering in live view. Freezing issues. Sporadic Metering issues with a mind of its own. All sorts of odd behaviour with uncoded lenses. etc. Firmware issues with serious usability concerns have been discussed on this forum since day 1.

I do not miss any of the usability issues I've experienced with this camera. In fact I often resented my decision to purchase this camera because of it. Especially after having to return my M10M, which made the M11 a compromise for me.  The M11 as it is today with current firmware is how this camera should have shipped from the get go.

I want to disable GPS but I am not sure how lol. In the FOTOS app, I selected GPS off. I choose Airplane mode but sometimes the display shows Bluetooth. When I restart my camera, GPS is off and no Bluetooth or wifi icon is shown. I save that to my current profile. All is good.

Then at the next start up, the profile icon is changed from selected profile to unsaved profile. I change it to the profile I just saved where there was no geotagging. And now geotagging is active (icon shown) even though I’m still in airplane mode and my iPhone cannot connect to the camera (proving that Bluetooth is indeed inactive). And when I take a photo it shows gps information. I haven’t done more testing to verify the accuracy of the gpa coordinates though, just that the picture in review mode shows the gps icon.

Seems like geotagging works mostly as expected but it’s not correctly saved in the profile and there are some display bugs. Maybe gonna be fixed in 1.6.0.1.
