Thank you for being a member. Yes, well I am confused, too. So this used to be an American organization, and now it is international? When I googled it, it came up with: The International Leica Society: LHSA https://leicasocietyinternational.org “Leica Society International is the ultimate place for Leica aficionados to learn more about their craft, Leica history, and to meet others that share the same ... So, why does it show as LHSA? But more important, is it actually international, or only North America and Europe? Advertisement Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Hi NZDavid, Take a look here Confused? I am.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted November 22, 2022 Author Share #102 Posted November 22, 2022 It would help avoid confusion if they spent some time on sorting out their website. One of the first rules of rebranding something is to ensure that all of your media, paperwork, advertising and so on is rewritten for the new brand. This is on the front page. Even the email address and disclaimer at the bottom still refer to LHSA. Welcome, dear visitor! andybarton Posted November 22, 2022 Author Share #103 Posted November 22, 2022 Actually, the whole website needs to be proof read and corrected. References to LHSA and International Leica Society are on multiple pages. Perhaps they should have a “History of LSI” page to explain the transition over the years. This is constructive criticism, by the way, not a moan. Getting these things right BEFORE changing the name of an organisation is key to avoiding confusion.

David Only 50% of the membership is from the US. I agree that the website needs attention and have passed on the comments above for attention. We were forced because of changing templates we used in wordpress to change about a year and a half ago to a new platform. That was done and with the pandemic we tried to keep adding video based content and other items while some things slipped through. I agree that it would be nice to flip the switch on branding, and we are working on the website, just not as fast as commercial folks can because everything we do is volunteer based. So, we are looking forward to a whole host of adjustments as we go. BTW, thanks for helping us get things updated here, we are grateful! As a reminder, https://www.LHSA.org will automatically forward to https://leicasocietyinternational.org. This will hopefully help as even I am a creature of habit getting to our website! 2
bradhusick Posted December 4, 2022 Share #106 Posted December 4, 2022 (edited) We refer to LHSA and LSI on purpose. We are not erasing the history of LHSA from our website. We are now Leica Society International, and we're proud of the history of the 54-year-old organization. I can't imagine anyone capable of shooting a Leica can be "confused" when they see LHSA and LSI appear together on a web page. Legally, we are LHSA and have a "DBA" (doing business as) LSI because it's expensive to make all the legal changes in the US and not necessary nor a priority for our members. We have published the story of the history of LHSA and LSI online (link from the home page) and in our award-winning Viewfinder magazine. We invite you to read it. We love our members worldwide and wish them the happiest of holidays. Brad Edited December 4, 2022 by bradhusick 1
