It definitely doesn't feel as solid as my other leica lenses. I wonder if any of you guys have experienced that? Nop, not at all, my copy (despite having dust in elements that Leica will have to clean up for me) feels extremely solid, and as I mentioned in my first thoughts, even better built than the original (although it’s splitting hairs since the original was one of the most solid Leica lenses already). You might wanna check with Leica. FYI, I don’t know which serials correspond to which batch, but my serial starts with 4837xxx in case it helps. That's right。 All parts are so loose to be a new released len。 没错 质量很差 光圈环松垮 对焦手感非常拉胯

My copy feels crappy and loose especially the aperture ring (focus ring not as smooth either). I’ve never seen a new lens wobbles like this one. Oh well, I’ll have to write to Leica after all. MarkP Posted December 29, 2022 Share #264 Posted December 29, 2022 (edited) So a month or so ago I’d mentioned to the Leica Store in Sydney that I’d be interested in this lens. I went on the waiting list thinking I’d have for ever to make a final decision as I already have more than too many Leica lenses. I was very surprised to get a call two weeks ago that they had one available. I made an immediate impulse purchase 🙄 with my wife’s approval - I love my wife ❤️. Very happy with the decision. I like how it images (it is indeed a two-in-one package), how compact it is for a Summilux, and it’s handling overall. There are two things that annoy me: Although I have some other older focus lock lenses (5cm Summaron & Elmars) I’d prefer not to have the focus lock on this lens - but it is what it is and it’s probably just me needing to get used to this type of lock. As discussed before, it is very annoying I can’t get a filter under the hood. Surely a minuscule change in the hood design world have overcome this. Finally, I want to pair it with a 90 that images sympathetically with this lens for a two lens kit. About to test it with my 1962 2.8/90 Tele-Elmarit, 4.0/90 Macro-Elmar, and 4.0/90 Elmar-C. I have tried two copies so far and the aperture ring on both copies were not very tight. The focusing action is not smooth throughout the distance range and gets a bit sticky towards the infinity mark. I think it's because of how Leica designed the infinity lock but I'm not sure at this point. I have spoken with Leica and my lens is at New Jersey right now. Let's see if they can tight things up and make that focus action smoother. It was slightly back-focusing as well.

What do you think, why Leica has delivered a second, ventilated lens shade ? Screw a 46mm filter into the lens and then screw the ventilated lens shade into the filter. This of course does not work with the OLLUX.

I had forgotten to mention this but I also noticed the focus action noticeably harder approaching infinity. Will await your getting back to us before I pursue this further. MarkP Posted December 29, 2022 Share #269 Posted December 29, 2022 (edited) No! It is impossible to get the 12487 hood over a filter ( Leica or B+W) and to clip into place. Any filter, even super slim, leads to hard vignetting in the corners with the 12486 hood. My initial comment stands. Don`t try to get the hood over the filter, screw the hood into the filter.
MarkP Posted December 29, 2022 Share #271 Posted December 29, 2022 I’m talking about the round ventilated hood 12486 that comes with the new lens. Unfortunately, even with the thinnest filter it leads to hard vignetting that cannot be removed in post. This has been demonstrates elsewhere in the Forum. I wish more reviewers would mention this but if one attaches the ventilated threaded hood (12486) to a filter (even a very thin one like the B+W), it causes hard vignetting which can't be recovered in post. (pure black). Leica designed both hoods without carefully considering the use of filters which is upsetting for many shooters. The alternative is to use a third party threaded hood that does not cause vignetting. Edited December 29, 2022 by Fred Miranda 1

The focusing feeling is the worst in the leica new era len catalog. I think this situation comes with non-metal internal focus thread and poor construction quality.
