....nobody really believed that a new camera from Leica would be "less expensive"....did they?

When the M-A was introduced, it was "cheaper" than the MP - it still is.

The "new M6" seems to be an MP not in black paint, but anodized black . Those "colors" have always - since the time of the Leica II - been a reason for a higher price (chrome more expensive than black paint, plack paint more expensive than chrome, anodized more expensive than ... etc.).

Also, £4,500.00 is more expensive than the MP, so that part of the rumor seems wrong.

Which suggests it is indeed a limited edition (i.e. costs more because it is, or will be, rarer).

The LeicaStore Manchester advert stated "Matte black paint finish".

Solid brass, apparently. I'll stick with my M2 (I just don't see what another film body would offer me and I'd rather put the money into lenses), but it's real pretty.

The subject of 'the price of Film' piqued my interest so I've just had a look to see what I could find on the web.

One UK-based pharmacy chain (possibly the one mentioned by andrew01 in the post quoted) is currently advertising 36-exp. rolls of Fuji 200ASA C-41 film for £8.99 per roll which, somewhat surprisingly, is slightly cheaper (allowing for inflation) than it was 30 years ago when, apparently, it would set one back around £9.25 per roll.

My guess why it's cheaper: the old film was an high class film. The Fuji 200 of today is the cheaper budget film C200 now sold more expensive as the much better Superia 200 that is gone. C200 was sold here for 2,99 Euro in a 2 film package a few years ago. One roll Superia 200 was around 4,95 Euro then.

i’ve had zero issue using the ‘inferior’ C200 and my clients are very happy with the results.  Do u have a before and after showing the differences?
