Leica Q mounting issues

I have a Leica Q which I have owned for 5 years. Never an issue mounting to my old MacBook Pro until today. I have been out of town and not used it for a couple of months. The screen reads USB massive storage connected but it won't mount to my computer. It did a couple of months ago. Any thoughts.

Did you change the camera setting from mass storage to PTP?  Otherwise don’t bother to figure out this kind of problem and use a card reader.

how do i checkwhether i have mass storage or ptp as a setting?

I don’t have a Q but normally a camera will give you a menu choice when connecting

You don't.  PTP is not an option on the Q.  From the manual

 The manual also say this

• Use only the USB cable supplied.

I've never connected the camera/transferred images.  I saw it was USB 2 which is quite slow in spite of the wording that says "high speed".

Try changing the connection cable.
