Following 5 photos taken today with 100-400 Sigma with its 1.4x extender. All were handheld with full optical stabilization engaged, though for some I was leaning on support. Blue heron, great egret, and turtles.

Ken, both of your sets are really wonderful. I like every shot in them. I have an old manual Nikkor 300mm that is a really good and sharp glass and I am dying to use it, but I don’t find any subject around that is worth of dragging a tripod and this big lens for! 🧐

Best regards,

L.

Thanks so very much for the kind words, Louis. Forget the tripod. You could take close-up photos of alligators. 😀

Can you believe, I have not seen a single alligator since I moved to Miami 3 years ago. I just saw a couple in captivity during my disappointing visit of Everglades! 🤨🐊

Take a mangrove canoe trip in the everglades and keep your hands on your paddle. Also have seen them in the Keys, but there has to be a park in Miami that has them. Then there was the time we stayed at a house on Sanibel Island and the landloed would sunbathe with a couple of small alligators.
