No argument it's a good lens but not perfect for the job - needs to be longer, this is a huge crop.

I was judging your picture as presented without knowledge of any pp cropping.  Perhaps it would be irksome in a bigger enlargement on your wall.

oh no  - thats a swear word for a Leica TL lens ;)

and therefore 1.6 times the girth and four times the weight. Lovely travel lens.

I know and thank you.  I was just taking the opportunity to (yet again) moan about the lack of a longer TL zoom.  I am still debating trying the Panasonic 70-200 but that's not really long enough either.  I must learn to be patient I know but having recently decided I'm all in with Leica and getting rid on my Sony and Canon long lenses I'm feeling a little bereft!   I just need to remember why I purchased the CL in the first place, with its current lenses for travel and everyday it's a great package.  Just the odd occasion when something longer would be nice.

Jayne: It's expensive, and a bit heavy, but the Leica 90-280 L mount lens will give you 420mm. Rob

Hi Rob, had to quickly find an image so as not to be in trouble on this the image thread🤣.  I keep looking at it... still think it's too much of a beast on the CL, although I should say I have never seen or handled one - if lens rental was easier here I would definitely try one - thanks.

A few months ago some of you may have notice pictures of this while under construction.  Went back today to look at the nearly complete building.

Is it sacrilege to wonder if they make a Fuji to CL adapter :-)?

And finally....this is a picture that has no technical merit - most things are out of focus and yet I really, really like it and would love to blow it up to life size and hang it on my wall if I had one big enough to take it. Apologies to the purists but the vibe in this is something that really appeals to me. TL 35 again and taken out the car window whilst we were on the move.

Dippy, I agree completely that this is a fine photograph and  completely reject your apology! There are no rules in photography that should not be broken. Much of the best photographic art in this world is precisely interpretative rather than precise.

Hi Dippy.  I really like it too.  IMHO it works because of the movement blur in the foreground, which creates dynamic action, while the contrasting sharpness in the background creates a scenic backdrop.  I would just be worried if there is too much blur in the background as well.  Otherwise I think it is excellent.

Thanks! Great idea about the dog! There is some practical problems though, the “seat” is about 3 meters up from the staircase below and I don’t think dogs are allowed at the royal palace. I’m also allergic to dogs... 😁

think out of the box, maybe a 18-35mm ???

Um - yes? Your wish for a faster lens was in response to Boojay's wish for a lens markedly longer than 135mm.

The first two were at 18mm, the remaining 5 were at 11mm, all horizontal, and all were shot DNG at ISO 400.   I really don't know why I changed focal lengths after the first two- I think I realized there was a colorful portion of sky I wasn't capturing.  Normally, I would use a consistent focal length throughout.

By the way, I also tried the camera's panorama function, but it's JPEG only and you can't really control it- I didn't care for the result.  I prefer to make my own individual pictures and stitch them in post.

Hmmm...I've never tried using different focal lengths, quite the contrary but there's nothing in the result to argue with. I agree about using the camera's function. Doing it manually gives you control over everything and a DNG file to process.

Thank you for the encouragement and I will remember what you say about rules being broken. In fact I may break a few more before too long!!

Maybe we need a new thread for out of focus images.

CL + 11-23, Arles, a couple of weeks ago. Deliberately out of focus.
