Weir was a pioneering campaigner for the protection of the Scottish environment, hositng the TV series Weir's Way, meeting the people of Scotland, exploring the landscape and its natural history. He was a a climber, writer and photographer covering from his native Scotland to the Himalayas.

Looks like the locals keep his statue warm with his trademark red 'toorie'.  (It is a little brighter if you click on the image - sometimes I find images here are more muted, lose their vibrance).

Seems he was using a Leitz Binuxit, a very decent 8x30 binocular.

Hi Albert, exciting trip for you and fingers crossed (Covid situation) you are able to make it.  Wonderful link above from Le Chef.. though I doubt you will suffer those conditions in late September, from previous trips of ours in late September weather has been wonderful. You already know how very capable the two lenses you have are, I would most definitely take both.

I'm not really a wide angle shooter and the 18mm end has always been wide enough for me, so if I were to add anything to your kit it would probably be the 55-135, that doesn't mean you will need it though.  Actually restricting your lens choices can make the whole thing much more pleasurable.. especially as this is a visit with your lovely wife Judy who probably won't want you to be weighed down with camera stuff and constantly stopping for setting up tripods etc, just enjoy the experience.  I really should listen to my own advice😊!

Anyway couple from our trip, both with 18-56 (each end) just to keep Jaapv happy and not break forum rules (this being image thread).  Happy planning Albert.. research where you are likely to visit that will be the best aid for assessing your equipment needs.

If I may add my two bits…

I bought an 11-23 zoom but I find I seldom use it.  I’ve usually found the 18-56 adequate for my needs.  The TL35 you already have makes a good addition for when light is an issue because the TL vario lenses are all a little slow.

With the beautiful rise in quality ISO of current cameras, a little slower lenses do not pose a problem of light.
If you want a shallow depth of field, that's another thing ...
