Sorry, I do not know it mself. I just found it to be pretty. Should  anyone know the name, please let us now.

As M10 (bottom of previous page said) it is a type of Hydrangea.  I always call them Lacecap Hydrangea's.  We have a beautiful one in our garden, depending on soil type goes from Blue to Deep Pink and ours changes colour as the blooms fade but it has a really lovely deep purple woody stem.  Couple of photo's here - top one is from a few weeks ago when it was looking it's best, second I just took now when it is really coming to the end of its flowering and colours have faded.    If you want to look them up try Zorro Lacecap Hyrdrangea - Monrovia.  Both CL with 90mm Summicron.

Hi Heinz

As said above it is a Hortenzia in german and hydrangea in english (see WDA). There are lots of types . . . But I like the ones you picked.

Thank you for your kind attention and for your info.

Stunning, Jayne. Lacecap is how we know them, too, in the U.S. Soil makes the differences in colors, and one can add lime to turn them pink, coffee grounds to turn them blue. They are great dried, too: keep forever.

Great photo: thanks! And a great demonstration of when/why B&W can be so very effective: fantastic tonal separation.

The blossoms of this kind of hibiscus are real giants . Their  size ist bigger than 2 hands of a man. I did not know before , that some kinds of hibiscus have such big blossoms. Therefore the CL with the 90/280 was enough to take this photo, which is uncropped.

Sometime around the time that William of Normandy conquered Britain in 1066 a small acorn just like this one would have been getting ready to drop to the ground....

And grew into this tree with a girth of about 35 feet that I saw today in some ancient woodland.
