Thanks Pete. I have to say that Pete's done the leg work on this, so hats off to him. Look forward to seeing everyone on the day! 2

Thankfully none have been hospitalised but some have been seriously unwell for a few days. I am still happy to meet outside I'm sad to hear of the people you know who have contracted Covid, David, and I register your concern. Since it's a highly emotive topic I was unsure how to reply to your comment about rising cases of Covid other than to link to a long-running Covid forum thread that indicates in post 17,597 that although Covid cases are rising the number of people who have been hospitalised is still low. This indicates to me that the current strain is certainly infectious but it's severity is far lower than the early strains of Covid. This is not my field of expertise and there is a plethora of information available, some of which is contradictory. We will of course be following the current UK government guidance on Covid so it's up to members to determine their risk accordingly. I look forward to seeing you on Saturday 16th. lanetomlane Posted July 5, 2022 Share #23 Posted July 5, 2022 I'm having trouble finding St Martins Court on Google Maps. I can find St Martins Street, south of Leicester Square; could anyone confirm that St Martins Court is off St Martins Street. Otherwise I could be walking around Central London for the weekend. Thanks for helping this senior.
Guest Posted July 5, 2022 Share #24 Posted July 5, 2022 (edited) Looks close to Charing Cross Road and Cranbourne Street, (Leicester Square tube station) if that makes locating it easier. https://goo.gl/maps/R5PM9KCwJkHc8cQLA Edited July 5, 2022 by OThomas

Thanks for helping this senior. Hi Tom, You're right it's an odd 'street' that runs between Charing Cross Road and St Martin's Lane but also strangely has a has an additional dog-leg halfway down that also runs onto Charing Cross Road. If you find the Wyndham's Theatre on the east side of Charing Cross opposite Leicester Square then the bit of St Martin's Court you want runs between Leicester Square tube station entrance (Cranbourne Street entrance) and Wyndham's Theatre, where "The Life of Pi" is currently playing. Hopefully this Google Pic will help but please come back if it's not clear. 🙂 Pete.

farnz Posted July 6, 2022 Author Share #28 Posted July 6, 2022 Please note: change of date to Saturday 23rd July. London is forecast to be heading in to a heatwave over the next two weeks and some sources are predicting up to 40C on Saturday 16th July. This would carry a red warning not to venture outside unless necessary and of course would not only be uncomfortably hot but potentially dangerous to those of us of a certain age. Such a high temperature would also prevent us from doing a photo-stroll unfortunately. After due consideration, and to provide as much notice as we reasonably can, John and I have therefore taken the step of postponing the London forum meet by a week until Saturday 23rd July 2022. The start time is unchanged and the venue etc will still be the Kaho Bar and Restaurant in St Martin's Court as above. We apologise for any disruption this might cause to your availability or your travel arrangements but in light of the forecast high temperatures we feel it is more responsible to hold off until the temperature returns to normal rather than forge ahead and risk members regrettably being overcome by the heat. We profoundly apologise for the change but look forward to seeing you all on Saturday 23rd July. Pete. 1
pippy Posted July 6, 2022 Share #29 Posted July 6, 2022 (edited) Hi there, Pete, and thanks for the update. Unfortunately I won't be in the country on the 23rd and therefore will not be able to attend. For those who CAN still make it along I trust you all have a great time! Philip. Pete. Thanks Pete. As far as meeting-up in future goes? As we two don't exactly live on different continents it might be the case that we arrange a low-key meet-up - perhaps with others who may live closer-by? - on a local scale. I'll keep in touch! lanetomlane Posted July 8, 2022 Share #32 Posted July 8, 2022 I thought I’d already posted that we can’t make the new date as we’re going away on the 20th; but I can’t see it here. Anyway I hope that all those attending have a great day and look forward to catching up with you in Athens. Cheers, Tom

ianforber Posted July 17, 2022 Share #39 Posted July 17, 2022 Only just found this thread. I read most of it thinking I’d missed out but the date change means I can come along. Will be my first meeting so go gently!
