Gentlemen, if you accept my opinion, the first version is stronger with the dark foreground that pushes  the gaze to the house and trees reflecting in the bright zone of water. The 1/3 -2/3 ratio is respected in this version while in the second it is half /half, more common.

However, I agree with the fact that the panoramic format is pleasant.
