The good news....she did. The bad news...the tech said he couldn't fix it. I asked for the lens back and sent it to DAG. He had it back to me in under 2 weeks, working perfectly, for $90, including shipping. Fortunately, I haven't had the need to deal with NJ since. Jeff That's outrageous. It's not even a difficult repair. I had Don fix the same problem on my own 50mm Summilux ASPH. He explained that Leica had started to use an inferior grease and the fix merely amounted to cleaning it off and replacing it with a better lubricant. It seems to me the store should have given you a new camera as replacement, including boxes and paperwork. In your case, part of the blame should go on the US Postal Service, which has gotten pretty terrible since Trump put Louis DeJoy in charge. Give me a break. USPS has sucked probably before you were born.

I also appreciate that the USPS exists and unlike DeJoy I'd like to see it improve. He has a financial interest in seeing it fail. He has tens of millions invested in companies that will profit from the failure of the USPS. This is documented.
Michael Geschlecht Posted May 28, 2022 Share #27 Posted May 28, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Everybody, It has been my personal experience in the USofA that over the years Postal Service has varied. Until a few years ago delivery locally & delivery not that far away was often next day delivery. For the remainder of the 48 Contiguous States out of the 50 in total (Adding Alaska & Hawaii specifically.) delivery was generally 2 or 3 days from when the mail was taken to the Post Office or from when the Postal Person picked it up. Mailboxes were more plentiful. In the last few years mail has been slower to arrive after mailing. Even locally. And there are less mailboxes with less frequent pick up schedules at those boxes. Some mail boxes that had 2 pick ups a day now only have 1.The Post Office tried to do away with Saturday pick up & delivery recently. This was not allowed. The current schedule of pick up & delivery TO EVERY ADDRESS/POST OFFICE BOX in the USofA has therefore remained at least once a day, Monday thru Saturday inclusive. A while back pick up & delivery for most homes, etc. was 2 times a day, Monday thru Saturday inclusive. By the way, the cost of mailing a 28.35 gram/1ounce First Class Letter within the 50 States & Territories & to Military Personnel outside of these areas is currently 58 USofA cents, which is 55 Euro cents, which is 46 UK Pence. eyeheartny Posted October 24, 2022 Share #28 Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) Has anyone actually been able to get someone on the phone at Leica New Jersey? I've been trying all morning to get through and it just goes to voicemail. I've reached a person twice, he's quickly transferred me to a random voicemail box, and there's no way to get a human being on the phone. Just disgusted and I haven't even sent my camera in for service. Edited October 24, 2022 by eyeheartny

Perhaps they are having problems with new phone system - try an e-mail.

Their chat system is broken and never goes beyond their stupid AI chatbot to get to a human. I finally got the office manager on the phone, Gloria, who promised to have someone call me within a few minutes. That was an hour ago. They are apparently also going to make me pay for shipping an under-warranty camera and lens back to them, which is utterly absurd and embarrassing. I will be fighting it. The idea that I would need to pay for insured shipping on US $12k gear for warranty repairs is literally outrageous. Combined with the inability to get people on the phone, I'm not optimistic about my future with this brand. Just unbelievable. Would you happen to have a name/email/forum username for the LHSA presenter about this? I'd like to contact them to see if they know the real movers and shakers at Leica NJ. If I were him I'd want to know how bad things are. Edited October 24, 2022 by eyeheartny
