Summicron-M 50/2 (Version 5) Discontinued?

Happened to be looking at the main Leica site today and noticed that the Summicron-M 50/2 (V5) is nowhere to be found.   It is, however, on their price increase list.  This seems to be a pretty popular & affordable lens so it's curious as to why they would discontinue it, if that is the case.  

Leica must feel like the current lineup of the APO-Summicron, Summilux, and Noctilux are all they need, but all of these are quite a bit more expensive than the standard Summicron 50/2 was.

Hmm.  I must have an old or broken link because the M lenses section didn't show it.

Leica overhauled their web site sometime in the past 2-3 months, and the internal cross-referencing of items is a disaster.

The regular 50mm f/2.0 does NOT appear on the "master" lens pages (e.g. https://leica-camera.com/en-US/photography/lenses/m ) showing 12 lenses per page (each with its own link "->" ).

(Nor does the 75mm Noctilux at the moment, and probably others).

But can be found via a general google search for "50mm Summicron-M", and then selecting the google result URL that matches the one lct listed. (i.e. not the one for B&H, etc). Look for "leica-camera.com......." at the beginning of the link)

In fact there are (at least?) two master pages, an international one where the lens is shown and an US one where it is hidden for unknown reason.

Plus the revised site has some serious typos that I have no idea how they could have missed before pushing the changes to production.  For the silver Summilux 50, the heading is Suilux..

Good info.  I had accessed the lens section from the product registration page, and that's where I saw where a bunch of them were missing.

Is the APO version intended to supersede the V5 and effectively become V6 or are they supposed to be a different line. I would assume eventually they will discontinue the V5 but as the OP noted there is significant price difference between the two

Leica doesn’t seem to be concerned about providing more reasonably priced lenses - perhaps just letting other companies have that market. The decision to discontinue the V5 might be based on their ability to produce enough of the APO version.

They don’t have enough money. They are clearly selling their products to cheaply. A more realistic price for an M body should be 15k for the entry level version. P version should be 20k.
