Some barely lit scenes from Candle to the Sun by Tennessee Williams in a production by amateuer actors. It's times like these where I can't praise the SL2-S enough. It produces great images even with a relatively slow f/2 lens.

Gorgeous, especially with that lighting.

Another dance show and the first official outing for the SL2 as a companion to my beloved SL2-S. Both did a great job, but (of course) the low light performance of the SL2-S is unmatched. I used the SL2 with the 35/1.2 and the SL2-S with a loan 70-200/2.8, so they were on somewhat equal footing. The 70-200 by Panasonic is a great lens, fastest AF I ever experienced on the L-Mount. I'm tempted ...

And a couple of close ups from the same show. As much as I love my 90 APO, the reach of the 70-200 gives some new perspectives ... Have I said that I'm tempted by this lens? ;)

Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee from a late rehearsal for A Few Good Men, Aaron Sorkin's scorching courtroom drama (later a film, with Tom Cruise as Kaffee).

SL2-S and Summilux-SL 50 (at f/1.4). This lens is far too slow to focus for this sort of work, but I can't help using it more and more, particularly for individual characters.

She's quite charming when she is not a serial killer.
Rehearsals for the premiere of a student writer's first play. The chances of such a production being good are relatively low, but this one is. A comedy about girly friendships and what do you do when your BFF is a serial killer.

Fans are seductive!
Taken in a period performance of Campra's L'Europe Galante (1697). Scene 2, Spain.
(Whoever supplied the props got the country almost right, but failed miserably with the date).

Did a couple of shows lately. First up, a collaboration of musicians with deaf performers that brought the art to public spaces, in this case a park. Silhouettengeflüster (Silhouette whispers).

From the dress rehearsal for Julius Caesar in Trinity College Chapel. The austere, formalised and distanced production was perfectly suited to the location and the awkward space.

Dress rehearsal for Fun Home, a musical based on the autobiographical graphic novel by Alison Bechdel. Alison, a lesbian, watches herself as a child and as a student growing up in the family fun(eral) home, coming out at college and discovering, just before he kills himself, that her dad is a closet gay. A tough story, but an inspiring production. The wonder of it was in the performances of the small children.

Socrates has left the building.......

The end of 'The Man Who Argued Himself To Death', a play by Colin Swash. It's a retelling of the last days of Socrates, with a lot of (very accessible) discussion on the nature of freedom, happiness, good and bad. There's not a lot of action to photograph, but I liked how the death scene (Socrates, condemned to death, drinks hemlock) was portrayed. After he dies, the lights go down, and Socrates walks out in near darkness, with his supporters remaining as silhouettes.
