You are aware of the shit-storm currently engulfing the world? Does this really seem all that important.

Here's how I think about M10/11 firmware going forward.  Leica has in the M11 shoehorned the engine and firmware of the SL2 and future cameras into the slim M10 body, adapting to the differences between M controls and SL controls as they discover what these are.  That process is still not complete and is probably under constant testing as we wait.  I would not expect the next release to wait until every problem is fixed but to occur in multiple steps, as groups is inconsistencies get worked out.

I like to shoot wide angle lenses with Ms and have the VF020 on my M10 and the VF2 on my M11.  I am curious to know how the VF2 when it works on an M10 will differ, but don't have a critical need for this.  There are lots of other things to get fixed on the M11.

There's room for more than one obsession in life.  I start each day by reviewing the previous evening's battle damage report, looking for evidence that the rest of the rail supply lines into the Ukraine have been successfully severed thus stranding large convoys of useless rocket launchers, and enjoying the TB-2 music videos with Bulgarian music.  Then finally I can move on to the day's M11 bug reports.

My understanding is that the limitations of the M10/R/P mean that the new Visoflex will not work in the same way that it does with the M11.   Other than being shaped differently, is there really a benefit to upgrade?

It is a bit less tall, allowing just fitting a camera with mounted EVF in a bag. In addition, the new Visoflex does not overlap the shutter dial, which I found pretty annoying with the old Visoflex.

not that i like the delay so far, but i really think people are interpretating too much into the announcement, leica never said "we promise its coming in march" did they?

From their web site:

"The Visoflex 2 is also backwards-compatible with Leica’s M10 models (M10, M10 Monochrom, M10R, M10-P and M10-D) once they have been updated with the new firmware released in March 2022."

Based on this statement, I ordered the Visoflex in January.  The update was a mere formality for me, I hadn't really registered that there were still 2 months left. And now we are in month #3.

Certainly it might be better to wait a little longer for a working software than to have to complain about an immature one.
For the M10-P Safari I would like a matching green VF2, but I suspect that more likely the VF2 will be integrated into the body of an M13 or M14.
With the Barnack Screw-On Leica II (Model D), Leitz had already achieved this in 1932, only seven years after the presentation of the Leica I (Model A) from 1925🙂 .

Perhaps that was written by the same fellow who created the memo saying that the M11 firmware awaiting release at the end of March might be held back.  Somehow that got out a few days after the firmware WAS released, sowing further confusion.  In fact the most recent M11 firmware still has things to be improved, or even (hush!) bugs remaining, but it was in fact ready to be used with new stuff.
