I'm really looking forward to it. I'm going to Africa in a few weeks, it will be a fun new lens for me. It may feel big to you in the beginning, but you get used to it very quickly. I feel very comfortable with the size and weight of it and IQ is really nice. Maybe you need a zoom for Africa. The 55-135 TL, although slow and big, is also excellent and really sharp. BTW, guys in Miami Leica store are great. Kirsten and Josh are always very helpful. Edited February 27, 2022 by Louis

I went with the 35 because I know it will get more use. Also it’s getting harder to find black copies of the 35 used and Leica Miami had a few. Josh was great. He even discounted the lens for me. Great place (and no state sales tax).
Louis Posted February 28, 2022 Author Share #143 Posted February 28, 2022 Now Leica is becoming really confusing! Leica USA is scheduling workshops for newly announced product and the 5 year old CL is among them!!! I don't know if this is in purpose to confuse us even farther, or there is no coordination in the messy Leica family!.... Leica, make up your mind and show some considerations for your costumers!... Isn't this a matter of grammar - it is the product-oriented workshops that are newly announced, not the cameras.

But 55-135 is an excellent Lens and even though it is not used that much, it makes beautiful pictures that differ. So I'm very happy with it. Mostly for the outdoors due to the aperture. I did, however, do a baby baptism (do not know the English word?) (Privately) in the church and there it worked fine on full aperture opening.

I even think CL became more popular because of all our discussions, and I wonder if they still have a large stock to liquidate! But I believe what is more important to most of us is about the future ! … what is going to replace it and when?

tritentrue Posted February 28, 2022 Share #151 Posted February 28, 2022 If anyone from Leica reads your threads, Louis, they know for sure that the CL has a loyal following, if not a large one. Even if, as you mentioned, they bring a small-bodied full-frame L-mount to the market rather than a new APS-C model, I think a lot of us would buy it. I agree completely with you and others who have said that Leica would do well to make a statement regarding the status of their APS-C line and their intentions going forward. Not doing so runs a strong risk of alienating some very loyal customers, and not just those interested only in APS-C.

Le Chef Posted February 28, 2022 Share #153 Posted February 28, 2022 With the exception of the M and CL all other cameras are no longer in production. This again is poor marketing and poor copywriting. They are doing themselves and their customers a disservice.
nicci78 Posted February 28, 2022 Share #154 Posted February 28, 2022 So Leica cares about 4 products categories : M family, Q series, CL and all SL variants. I guess that CL is not dead yet. I really think that Leica needs to release a CL2
Enrique Santa Posted February 28, 2022 Share #155 Posted February 28, 2022 With the new cams m4/3 from Pana and Oly up to 2.200€ and next Fuji sure up to this I can't understand why Leica can't sell a Cl2 for 3.000€ or even 3.500€. It is hard to understand....

As the matter of fact, I was thinking of that also! the 4/3 cameras could be harmed by the Cellulars, but APSC is a completely different beast and not comparable to cells! Many others still keep making 4/3!!!
ramarren Posted February 28, 2022 Share #158 Posted February 28, 2022 Oh for the lack of a comma and a hyphen: "Join us online for these newly announced, product-focused, Leica Owner workshops." Some of us FourThirds format users actually continue to use and enjoy the cameras, you know. They work extremely well for lots of purposes, and offer a mix of compactness, lens quality, and features not easily available elsewhere. The format has a particular following in the video maker community. Pity there allegedly will never be a CL2. And that Leica doesn't share every nuance of their product planning with every person in the world. It's a burden. G

Michael (great guy) in the LA Leica Store leads the CL workshops that are listed on the leicaademie USA site. I don't think its an indicator of a new CL necessarily. The CL is still a product in their line, so it makes sense to me. I have a few thoughts on this issue (as someone who has been recently investing in the CL system (and loving the camera). 1. Maybe they won't update the CL, I think the CL is the perfect travel/hiking/daily carry system for so that is fine. 2. Leica updates their cameras on 3-4 year cycle.. the CL2 was due in 2021. We are dealing with 2 lost years due to COVID, there is a supply chain problem with everything, esp electronics. Leica ISN'T Apple (Thank GOD), they don't have a monopoly or stock pile of components. They have not been able to absorb the effects from the pandemic. 3. I love small kit, superb image quality and design (CL - check, check, and check) 4. If they don't update the CL line and I feel I need to upgrade my camera body in 3 or 4 year, the 3 TL lenses I own are amazing and will happily work on an SL2, which will make that kit smaller and lighter. The future is unwritten, be grateful for the abundance of the moment and the choices we have . I'm going to go make some photos.
