When I bought mine, Jan 16th, it was the last one, but a couple of days later I saw two new silver chrome for sale in the same store (stavangerfoto.no in Norway). In fact, two chrome ones are still in stock. My local Leica Store in Oslo is sold out of both versions but expecting new deliveries. My guess is there will be many small shipments but still scarcity the coming months. I have yet to see the black version in stock in any of those stores, nor have I seen the Visoflex 2.

Incidentally, all this availability seems to be confined to the Leica stores.  Independents, such as Popflash are getting their M11's and accessories very slowly, which doesn't seem healthy for the long term. (I thought I spotted availability at B&H, but that turned out to be a hasty misreading of their standard "We don't have any but if we ever do we will let you know" letter.)   I tried (and failed) to get an M11 from a small store in the Boston area that had no line.  They got a Leica rep working on their behalf, and scored one copy with a promise of another fairly soon.  Unfortunately, I was #2 (and there was a #3), so I took one from the Leica online site.  But this concentration on selling almost entirely through their own channel seems short-sighted on Leica's part.

Situation appears to be the same in EU, except a tad worse, as even the German Leica store only had them in stock a couple of times, very briefly.

Independent stores are getting nothing.

So it seems most if not all of the stock is getting sent to the US.

I wouldn't be surprised if all new stock is getting sent to the US. The ex-VAT price in Europe (converted to dollars) is about $7900, and the pre-sales tax price in the USA is $8950. Now if you add the taxes back in, the two jurisdictions are the same price, assuming you buy in your own country. So Leica effectively gets an extra $1000 per unit they sell to the United States. Plus, if the excess stock went to Europe first, plenty of Americans would just buy from Europe at the cheaper ex-VAT price and save $1000.

Many EU sellers add extraordinary shipping charges and insurance to the cost of a pre-VAT purchase, which tamps down the incentive to Americans to do that.  And in the US we have 6-10% local sales taxes, which are getting harder to avoid when buying from an out of state seller.  My Leica M11 from the online store came with Mass sales tax added.

Absolutely true. Though I spec'd out that even the 250euro shipping cost from Meister Camera in Germany would still save me nearly $1000 over buying in the states. A lot of stores are participating in the cross-state sales tax collection which... well I won't get into a debate on that. But I was quite pleased that Leica Miami didn't collect NY sales tax when I bought my M11. And there's always the sales-tax discount you get with the B&H card (which they relaunched in time for the M11).

Well, in the long term, I think local sales taxes should be honored.  It pays for things we need, and the money will just have to come from somewhere else, or the potholes won't be filled and schools won't be staffed.  But that is outside the bounds of this forum.  If you defeat the Meister shipping charges by going to Germany and taking the camera home with you, that will be good for the local economy as well.  In Wetzlar.

I agree about the sales taxes. If you can afford Leica equipment you can afford the taxes. A famous British conservative said it well: "I like paying taxes. With it I buy civilization".

German/Austrian stores now quoting 2+ month waiting times.

Mine’s supposedly coming in 1-2 weeks according to Kuecher, but that seems doubtful compared to others’ quotes.

It's hard to believe such a long waiting time in the country where the cameras were  manufactured.

I got lucky here in Taiwan. My wife initially tried to buy a M10-R as a surprise gift for our special date, but the staff mentioned the up-coming M11. She made the pre-order about couple of weeks before the announcement. I got the camera body on the launch day. It seemed like most authorized stores have a quantity amount of stock in the first place. Then long waiting takes place after the first shipment was depleted.

They’re completely gone all over EU. Black M11 popped up on leica spain web front briefly, but i didn’t even try, as i knew it’d be out of stock again by the time i cancelled the other order, called up my bank to authorize the transaction etc.

And that’s what happened, it was gone the same day.

Meanwhile, coming up on week 3 of the quoted 1-2 week delivery ETA, and still no M11. Radio silence from the store.

I ordered mine at the Toronto dealer Downtown Camera on dec 24th.  Picked it up on January 13th.  Only 2 black bodies came in both were gone day 1.

I just spoke to my dealer and he was told that they wouldn't start shipping the M11 in silver until the bulk of the black have been filled.  We may be waiting a long time.  I prefer silver myself but was on the fence for the black.  After seeing the premature wear on the black finish I'm holding out for silver.  Wish I hadn't sold my M10P, could be a long wait!!

Let me know please if you have heard otherwise, thanks
