I also received a Fogg Lyre last week and l like it very much. I place the M with lens attached on one side and my small pouch with personal items on the other side. In the back pocket I have an iPad mini, and while it sticks out a little, it’s quite workable.  If only I could have the Lyre with backpack straps it would be perfect!

At 6ft tall I think it would look a trifle ludicrous on my back!

It’s a really good bag if you don’t want to lug around too much gear and part of why I returned to the M system is to stop doing that.

I've been using the same Billingham Hadley Small since 2011.

I'm traveling to Taiwan next month and I am interested in the Wotancraft 2l bag for something a bit smaller, but still has decades long durability like the Billinghams: https://www.wotancraft.tw/en/product/pilot-travel-camera-sling-bag-2L-khakibrownC

I own 20+ year old all-black Lyre and b-Laika bags, both which have served me well for small M kits over the years. The older versions were more compact (and of course much less expensive) than the recent iterations, much to my liking.

Last year I wanted to add a top handle to my b-laika, but bee said this wasn’t a practical option, especially given shipping during the pandemic, etc.  I ended up buying a second b-laika with a custom top handle that lays flat against the top, providing a practical feature without ruining the profile or getting in the way.  I was fortunate to have some fun discussions with bee that I’ll fondly remember, especially regarding deletion of the French flag label that had been added to the design since I bought my older bag. I prefer the more minimalist/discreet look. She said that, after our conversations, she and Nigel were going to eliminate the flag design going forward.

Well I have to start with Any Bag will Do! But these days I'm feeling Fancy so I'm using a Rimowa X Dior Shoulder Bag. Keep in mind I live in Dubai so chances of theft are close to Null. It's good for One M, and an SL Body. Today I'm carrying my M6, SL2S Reporter, a 75mm Cron Lenny Kravitz, Tri-Elmar MATE, 28 Lux, 24D Flash, a Sketchbook, and an El Pro Adapter. Some other stuff like a Wallet, Aurpods, and a Xiaomi S12 Ultra (Photos taken by the Phone).

I just received a Billingham Small Hadley Pro and it is super nice. Fits more than my Peak Design Everyday Sling 5L (the original model). And looks much nicer too. Currently have the M11 with 50 Lux attached, 35 Lux, 24 Elmar, plus the El-Pro 52 macro adapter, Visoflex 2, RRS mini tripod, and Leica ball head. Could fit a couple more small items, like a ND filter. It also is wide enough for an iPad Pro 11-inch to fit. Of course, with it fully loaded like this, it can be pretty heavy on the shoulder and for me, I prefer taking a backpack in that case, but for general walk around use, I think this is a really nice option.

I’ve been following this thread with great interest, as I’m off to the Cotswolds in a few weeks and wanted something ‘nice’ (but relatively small) to carry my M11 + 3-4 lenses in.  I just received a Hadley Small Pro and although the Billingham website says it’ll fit, I don’t see ANY WAY my iPad Pro 11” will fit.  Not a problem when walking about, as I won’t have the iPad with me during the day but I was hoping to use the bag as my carry-on for the flight from NYC to LHR.

Am I missing something?  Should I return the bag and get the Hadley Pro 2020 bag instead?  It appears to be quite a bit larger than I’d planned to carry (I have a cheap canvas bag that’s about the same size already.)

This bag?

Duh!  I followed the usual Leica forums for bag recommendations and didn’t even CONSIDER going down the YouTube rabbit-hold.

Since my first reaction was that the bag was smaller than expected and that I would likely have to return it, I only tried placing the iPad in the zippered compartment and didn’t even remove the contents from the inside.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.  Guess its a keeper!

I currently have a Peak 6L which I use for my Q2 ("roomy") or my CL and usually a couple of lenses ("comfortable") but having owned a Billingham some 40 years ago there is hankering to own another one. A Sage Green with brown trim Billingham Hadley Small Pro would very nice...

Despite the fact that the bags were made in France, I’ve always regarded them as British!

My Lyre has the French flag which just seems out of place to me. I might see if I can cut it to the seam level with a scalpel…

A good tailor (seamstress) will be able to remove the label without damage.

I dithered between the Hadley Pro 2020 and the Hadley Small Pro. In the end I went for the larger bag, which I’m happy with as it also allows me to carry a rain jacket (which you’ll need in the. Cotswolds!) and a bottle of water, or my Q2 and M11, which I never do. It is unnecessary large for a one camera one lens set up though, for which I’m using a Peak Design 3L sling. Of course, I’ll end up buying the Hadley Small as well but I’m trying to restrain myself for a few more months.

Given how durable they are, billingham is not expensive. In the Long run getting it now or later won’t make a difference 😂
